#predator badlands #kwei predator #kwei badlands #kwei #yautja #the background on this is shit but who cares we all know thats not where anyones looking #enjoy you filthy animals #i looked at SO MANY screenshots of the bts footage because he never exists in good lighting in the movie #to try to figure out whats going on with the scales. bc they have them in some places (shoulders back of neck forearms back of hand)#and not in others (inside the joints of their elbows their throat etc)#and i notice the patches that are scaly line up pretty directly with where you would expect a human to get a sun tan #so my theory is that the darker scalier areas are the yautja equivalent of a tan. their skin just does that with sun exposure #which also explains why we see it so much on the desert yautja (dek kwei shitass father and feral) and not so much on the jungle lads #less direct sunlight in the jungle #i also noticed when i added the shading layer that it functions as countershading #so its also possible that its just that #but if you think about it a sun tan is kind of like countershading for humans...
