internalised misogyny &infighting within the lesbian and larger wlw community are sadly a thing & im so sorry your girlfriend has to go through that. of course it's different in every local community. a lot of butches also get to deal with specific prejudice based on their presentation (we're "masculine", basically men, walking stereotypes, giving the community a bad name...) if ur not a lesbian, i would be careful making generalisations about these things but obvs what ur gf has to hear is BS!!
Very good point. Yeah, I have a bad habit of being generalising, Iâm trying to stop doing that. I know that butches face specific prejudice as well based on presentation, and god knows I should be aware enough of this to not generalise at all.
heya, i know how midnight ramblings are and i don't really know you so please know i am not trying to get on your case or make you feel bad or anything! just wanna say that butch and femme identities are in no way meant to "split up" a community or something, they're just personal identities that most lesbians i knw don't particularly consider themselves to fit into. i do identify as butch, bt it definitely doesn't divide me from other lesbians i feel! just my two cents. hope your night is good!

Midnight ramblings are midnight ramblings, and I could have been a billion times clearer about what I meant and about the context of the post. In Scandinavian countries, or at the very least in Sweden and Finland, the majority of the lesbian community is butch or says they prefers to dress/look the part. My fiancĂŠ and I had had a long discussion about this, and how it affected femme lesbians, because there is a very large part of the group that likes to call femmes âfakersâ, âattentionwhoresâ, âstraight-passersâ, âdoing it for straight guysâ and other stuff like that. Aka, âto be lesbian you canât look feminineâ. It was bad enough to make my fiancĂŠ feel horrible and start questioning if she really was supposed to be part of the community when she first realised that she was homosexual.

kay so you know how free! is based off high speed! ? high speed! being the haru & crew (sans rei) swimming drama from when theyre in 6th-7th grade (fun stuff).. so free! is like the future of high speed!, which was a manga/novel
so kyoani has decided to make a movie based on the second high speed! novel (ie meeting baby sousuke and kisumi and other charas) called starting days
and in celebration or something of it theyve been making mooks (aparently a namesmush of magazine/books) for different pairs of people in free! and i havent seen the makoharu one or the ones w nagisa n rei (seeing as i only really follow avid harurin shippers) but yeah the harurin mook came out yesterday
my comments so far on it is that while im super excited i felt a little angry, too, since a lot of free! character relationships are interesting and genuine ie the show does it justice so queer readings/interpretations of it feel cool but in the mook it feels like blatant queerbaiting and thus kinda falls into the disingenuous zone but whatever (ill make a post on this later)
anyways what ive got out of translations posted on tumblr is that theres a story where haru asks rin to bite his neck & drink his blood and also that the creators wanted to show a scene during harurinralia that they had see-through glass showers in the hotel room to make it even more Intimate & Tense (UST) for haru n rin besides the shared bed
