some favorites from Carrie M. Becker's miniature diorama work
These sit at the intersection of two of my interests -- dollhouses and Hoarders. I love that they exist. I deeply appreciate being introduced to them. I am always viscerally freaking out at the sight.
These photos are seriously brilliant in exploiting the tensions among:
Realism as a goal of dollhouse design.
The history of the dollhouse as either a display for wealthy collectors or a tool for teaching girls proper housekeeping (depending what source you're looking at).
Dollhouse conventions of being a magazine-ready "perfect" environment of order and harmony.
Dollhouse miniatures as being endlessly collectible, especially the ReMent surprise-box ones that Becker discovered.

“I’m wearing a 90s cut-out-hearts two piece set by Saelee, an 80s wool hat, thrifted Stuart Weitzman booties, a black Gucci Soho Disco bag, some modern jewelry from an amazing designer called Catwalk Jon, and various vintage jewelry I’ve collected over the years. My style has always been greatly influenced by the colorful music, TV shows, and movies I loved when I was younger. So, one day, I’ll want to dress like Cher in Clueless. Another day, I’ll want to look like a Bowie-esque glam rocker from the 70s, and the next I’ll be feeling like a badass boss lady who wears huge shoulder pads, like Rose in Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitters Dead. It really depends on my mood, but I truly love how transformative style and fashion can be. You can embody the characters and eras you’ve always loved while simultaneously being authentic to who you truly are.”

its really funny that weve reached the point where both having and not having a DNI can function as otherwise indistinguishable corny virtue signalling to posture about how youre the furthest and most seriously left anyone has ever been.

put the high res copy of this file on my itch.io if you'd like to print it off to display
+ added my artists statement to the itch.io description if you want to know more about the intentions of this piece (though I suggest forming your own opinions on it first before reading mine).
last I heard it sounds like the website I got the original reference image for this from is either dead or on its way out. this artwork is truly a moment of time in a way, but I hope the uncanny feeling of it and its intentions last forever.
sit with the overly-picturesque scene and feel the falsehood of it. notice all the tags praising this as positivity without question – it's not wrong that that's all some people see in this. the obfuscated context is the point. don't ignore that as happy as the dog and cat might seem to you, the pig is still dead. know that someone cares about you; if not here then at least in some other community of exiles like you. I don't know if that's good consolation or just damnation. I'm sorry if you're tired. I'm tired too.

Green eyes are even more iconic and beautiful.
If i met a white person irl I’d beat the shit out of them and mug them just because of this post. Because of you. Maybe even kill them. Because of you. You had to say this and now some random cracker bitch is gonna die. Are you happy? Was it worth it?

Some scholars describe "emo" as a culturally-specific third gender[2][3]
what needs to precede discussions on cultural transfeminine third genders is the understanding that trans woman is, on the one hand, not any less cultural than any other gender identity, while also being used as a clinical, culturally neutral term, and this creates a class of prestige through which the individual can access womanhood globally, and so makes it a question not only of cultural identity but also of the imperial administrative apparatus and border politics. and as long as we approach the topic of gender with the framework of determining what an identity and an individual "really is" we won't be getting anywhere
