xX Black2 Artlocke Xx
Hey ya'll! I'm gonna be doing a pokemon nuzlocke challenge with personalized rules and art of my team!
A little background first:
I grew up in a religious household where pokemon was banned, so I don't carry the same nostalgia of those who grew up on the game. I've played a couple gyms worth of red a decade ago (at 18 after leaving my parents house) and way more pokemon go. Even go I haven't played in several years and was most active when it came out.
Right before this I started a Soul Silver artlocke with similar but less defined rules, but didn't even make it to the first gym before feeling like I'd learned so much it would be worth restarting. I also read up on which games are best for nuzlocke, and found BW2 to fall pretty high on lists (while still working with an emulator on my phone.)
With those points in mind, here are my rules!
A fainted pokemon is considered dead and must be released.
Each pokemon should be given a unique name.
While drawing the mon I may decide the name I gave it before seeing its profile doesn't suit them, so one rename per pokemon is allowed. The pokemon's name in the game might not match the name on drawings and in posts until gym 3 is reached where I can rename in game. Names posted here should be the final name.
A party wipe is instant game over.
(And here's where we start to veer from normal nuzlocke rules)
One pokemon per evolution line can be caught.
This is so that I can still experience catching and using lots of pokemon. Since only one per line may be caught, I can look up what pokemon appear in an area to choose what level/evolution I want to catch.
A pokemon must be drawn before it can enter battle.
All pokemon must have original artwork created for them before they can battle. The artwork should consider their nature and characteristics. Small tweaks to the default design are encouraged (unique markings, colors, features, ect,) so long as the pokemon is easily recognizable and not likely to be mistaken for a shiny.
At minimum a sketch must be completed, with flat colors added as inspiration and energy allows.
Near death experiences leave scars.
A pokemon that survives dropping below 10% of their HP must be redrawn before returning to battle, with a new scar to represent the close call. Scars may or may not carry through to the next evolution stage.
Here's my starter!
This is Zuko, the tepig! He has a calm nature and is alert to sounds. He joined me at level 5 and reached level 6 through the tutorial/intro segments. His moveset is currently tackle and tail whip.
I've been really into colored pencils recently, but I'm not restraining myself to any one medium for this challenge.
I'm excited to go on this journey and bring along whoever would like to come! Thanks for reading and follow for updates <3
