i looove nisha.... she's my theme on twitter and has been for YEARS now. i think she's really overshadowed in the fandom space in favour of white men, which sucks a lot because she's got a lot to her!!! presequel brought a lot to her character that i think shot her up to my favourites rather than a passive like from bl2, and watching her relationship with jack bloom was soo cute.. i got a commission of her a while back from an ex-friend that i still really like and i always lament about how little she's drawn and written about (even though i don't do it much myself since i'm focusing more on music lately... i'm drafting a timmoxxi fic, though, so maybe it's time to do a bit of writing about nisha too...)
she's got a pretty similar backstory to jack too, which i found interesting, where they both ended up abused and mistreated by their caretaker figures (grandma & mom respectively) and i think that her mom really encouraged her to become the person she is today, especially with what happened with that poor dog. speaking of. i want to talk a lot about her dog
sometimes i wonder if how she harmed brick's dog dusty was a result of that formative experience with her own dog and how her mother encouraged the attack, yknow? she saw how brick would find comfort in the hard times in dusty the way she did with her little pooch, the dog she loved so dearly before the attack to the point where when the frenzycrutch got her sick, nisha's only real friend in that abusive household, and got upset. that it should've been her and that dog she loved so dearly, not knowing how to handle her feelings on it and turning to the violence she was trained into by her family, and how come they get the breaks? why couldn't she have ever gotten a lucky streak? why couldn't her dog be alive today, and they could've made a better life together?
i think about her and that dog a lot honestly. how her dad made the active choice to bribe her instead of shield her from her mother, how that dog was her only real protector from her awful household, and how they combined took it away from her. it parallels what happened to brick a lot, and it makes me sad. i think she'd have made an active choice to not adopt any more pets as a form of paying respects
i've got so so much more to say about nisha, but i'm not someone who's good at more broader questions. it's why i honed in on the dog so much. i don't remember if her dog ever got a name though? if she didn't i might give her a fan name...
