I love my culture, my people, my language, our history and my land. I’m so proud of being Catalan. 

But sometimes...I wish I was not.

Being Catalan means you are the last shit of Spain. 

Being Catalan means you are still a part of the country (or even worse, the realm, ugh) that has oppressed your people, your language, your culture for ages and ages.

Being Catalan means these people still doesn’t admit the damage they have done to your language and culture.

Being Catalan means you will be laughed at because you, after 300 years of systematical oppression, need political actions that compensate the wrong they have made.

Being Catalan means you will be insulted, wished death, threatened to death for speaking catalan/ being catalan/ wanting catalan’s independence every day. 

Being Catalan means you will be beaten up for being pro independence.

Being Catalan means you will be murdered for being pro independence, and your killer will only face 4 years of prison.

Being Catalan means you will be called "you are playing the victim” when you state these facts to spanish people an politics.

Being Catalan means you will be called nazi, fascist for wanting catalonia’s independence. Even when the neonazis are the ones who are murdering you. Even when the fascists are the ones that have oppressed you.
