I've decided to rank my cats' intelligences by purely unscientific means. I'm going to use a few measures but put it on a standard scale, where 100 is normal, and a standard deviation either way is 15 points
Interpersonal Intelligence: how well do they recognize my feelings
Interkitty Intelligence: how well do they recognize the feelings of other cats
Intrakitty Intelligence: how well can they self-regulate their own feelings
Manipulative Intelligence: how well do they communicate their demands to me and how effective are they at manipulating me
Spatial Intelligence: how well they understand their place in the world and how to get around, including balance and judging distance
Hunting Intelligence: how well they can track their prey (or toys) in motion
Verbal Intelligence: how well do they seem to recognize words I use to them a lot
Puzzle Intelligence: how well do they work out simple puzzles to get what they want
Mischief Intelligence: how well they know what they're doing is bad but doing it anyway to get a rise out of me
Grudge Intelligence: how well can they remember a slight and get back at someone later
Full-Scale Intelligence: take the average of everything
Human-Centric Intelligence: average of Interpersonal, Manipulative, Verbal, Puzzle, Mischief, and Grudge
Cat-focused Intelligence: average of Interkitty, Intrakity, Spatial, and Hunting
Interpersonal Intelligence: she's one of the best cats I've owned for recognizing when I'm sick or upset. 135
Interkitty Intelligence: not great at reading other cats' intentions. 85.
Intrakitty Intelligence: she acts out when she's upset, but not much more than other cats, and she can be patient. 105.
Manipulative Intelligence: most meows sound the same, but she is awfully persistent when she wants attention. 105.
Spatial Intelligence: very clumsy for a cat. I think it's from before she got to the rescue, as apparently some awful person kept her in a cage for at least a while. 80.
Hunting Intelligence: pretty good tracking and anticipating. 110
Verbal Intelligence: she knows her name and recognizes some simple orders. 110.
Puzzle Intelligence: she puts all her cleverness into getting ahold of plastic to gnaw on, learning to open cabinets AND drawers. 120. Mischief Intelligence: not very mischievous. 95.
Grudge Intelligence: she'll remember for a day if she has to. 120.
Full-Scale Intelligence: 106.5 (about average)
Human-Centric Intelligence: 114.1 (almost a standard deviation above average)
Cat-focused Intelligence: 95 (lower average)
honestly expected her cat-focused intelligence to be lower, as she took a while to adapt to Ophelia's more normal cat communication styles
Interpersonal Intelligence: not great, maybe just because she's a bit self-centered. 90.
Interkitty Intelligence: quite good. she knows how to get Medusa to groom her and how to get on her last nerve. 120.
Intrakitty Intelligence: not great. more of an instant-gratification girl. demands someone else solve it when she's bored. 80.
Manipulative Intelligence: very good, with special meows for reassurance and food, and when she wants something she will NOT let up. 115.
Spatial Intelligence: awfully graceful. 125.
Hunting Intelligence: a bit of a dummy. I don't think she can smell very well, and she loses track by sight a lot. 85.
Verbal Intelligence: I think she knows her name and "all done." 95. Puzzle Intelligence: she's gotten better, but she doesn't work things out for herself well. if she's shown, she'll learn pretty well, though. 110.
Mischief Intelligence: absolutely made of mischief. 130.
Grudge Intelligence: she couldn't hold a grudge to save her life. 70.
Full-Scale Intelligence: 102 (also about average)
Human-Centric Intelligence: 101.7
Cat-focused Intelligence: 102.5
results are a little surprising as I often joke Ophelia is a sweet lil dummy, but she's really not very much below in any area except for holding a grudge, and that might just be her nature as a little darling.
feel free to use this to guesstimate your own cats' intelligences
