I'm going to train my cat how to use the Alexa! He's been learning those talking buttons, and now I've added an "Alexa, softer" button next to the alexa so he can turn down my music.
If he gets that one down, I'll make buttons for a couple playlists and a button to skip the current song.
I want to learn my cats music taste!
i have a question about cat comprehension (and this probly applies to other pets too)
if pets like BilliSpeaks can comprehend human language when spoken outloud, (shown by when they respond in the same language via button-pressing)……
do ALL cats comprehend spoken human language from their owners, and most just cant demonstrate it cuz they dont have buttons?
i know sometimes dogs react behaviorally to the word “walk”!!
do most pets straight-up comprehend full sentences?????
I’ve been teaching Dio how to talk using FluentPet buttons that I got off Facebook marketplace, and he’s doing so well! We have three words: play, bye bye (for when me or my partner leave the house), and outside
Dio was hitting the buttons within the first few weeks of us getting them. After around 2 weeks, I was reading at the kitchen table and he was trying to get my attention by biting me and butting me with his head. When I kept ignoring him, he ran to his button and hit “play”! I played with him for a minute before going back to reading, and then he did it again! That was when I knew he understood what the buttons were for
The most recent update: I moved all three buttons onto the mat, when before they were all in their context relevant locations. At first Dio didn’t hit his buttons for a few hours, but then he hit “bye bye”, so I left the apartment. A few minutes later, he hit “outside”, so I picked him up and brought him outside. Then he hit “play”, so I played with him. And then he kept hitting play!
This shows problem solving! This is so exciting!! He wanted to see what each button would do, and then chose what he wanted out of those three options. My boy is a scientist!
Presently, he keeps hitting play, but I can tell he actually wants something else. My boy needs more words! I have purchased more buttons on Facebook marketplace. Will keep you posted!
Teach your cat to talk!
It might work...

what's your take on the whole "FluentPet" thing and people training their pets to "talk" using AAC devices? is it real communication or are animals just pressing random buttons to get a reaction and their humans are anthropomorphizing it?

@zoologicallyobsessed has done a great rundown on the topic here.
