Moments in between disasters: a surfer trims on a small, clean point wave in Ventura as the approaching storm moves in. 12 hours later, the #thomasfire burn scar (largest wildfire in California history and still only 92% contained) would send torrents of mud and debris rushing at speeds of 50+ mph down the canyons of Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, from the peaks to the ocean, wiping out entire neighborhoods and so many lives. Search and rescue efforts have just begun, leaving countless people trapped tonight.
