Wildflowers are showing off in the subalpine meadows around the mountain! Peaking wildflowers in full bloom include Cascade aster, paintbrush, lupine, and many others. This large display of coiled-beak lousewort (Pedicularis contora) was found in Summerland Park, along the Wonderland Trail on the east side of the park. This lousewort stands out with its creamy white flowers on spikes up to 15 inches (40 cm) tall. What wildflowers are you finding blooming in the subalpine meadows?
Remember, please stay on trails to avoid trampling wildflowers! There are plenty of opportunities for the perfect wildflower + mountain view from the trails.

It makes me so sad to know the hills of Summerland behind me in this photo are ablaze - and the entire township threatened and evacuated. The Okanagan Valley is so beautiful... I've spent many years traveling here and enjoying parts of my summers. I hate that we've had so many fires ravaging our Canadian landscapes. My heart is gutted. 😓😓
