Things had not gotten much better since they had left the hospital. Alex was lost on what to do. He had done his best to support Paloma while not pressuring her into making a decision she would regret. They hadn't talked much. It was like they had jolted to the past. Paloma had shut him out for the most part. There was no way they could keep going like this, at least not if they wanted their relationship to last. He would make peace with her decision if she wanted to terminate the pregnancy, but it would be a stab to the gut if it meant they broke up afterwards. Alex wasn't sure how easily he would get over that one. The worst part was he had no idea what Paloma was thinking. He had no idea what she wanted. It was clear that it was a major shock, and he didn't blame her. Neither of them had expected this. It was a lot to ask her to keep the baby. Maybe too much. He couldn't - didn't - expect her to potentially sacrifice her career, her life, her body, for a baby they hadn't planned. He had said he would support her no matter what, including if she wanted to terminate, and he had meant that. No matter how much he wanted kids, he understood that now might not be the right time. He would have to bring up the topic of kids, though, even if it was to talk about what she thought about a family with him down the line. As much as he wanted to be with her, he couldn't ask either of them to continue a serious relationship if she couldn't ever see kids in their future. Right now everything in his life was in limbo, and he didn't know what to do.
After Alex dropped Paloma off at Mariana's, he went back to the ranch, texting Cass that he would be back in 15 minutes or so. He parked his truck in the driveway and hopped out. Alex had been fine giving Paloma her space. He hated that he wasn't able to comfort her since he had been the one who had caused the problem in the first place. Hopefully Paloma could at least come to a mental place she was comfortable enough to talk to him. Cass was in front of her house, clearing out some of the debris that had fell in the yard. He gave her a small smile when she saw him, giving her a hug and kiss on the temple. "Hey. Sorry I wasn't able to explain much on the phone, I know you've probably been worryin' the past couple of days. I picked up some food if you're hungry?" he offered, the 'can we talk?' being implied.
