It's a delicious mix of Mexican and Italian food called Carnitas Pizza. Soft shredded pork, tangy barbecue sauce, and melty cheese make a tasty meal when put on a crispy pizza crust.
Ingredients: 1 pizza dough. 1 cup carnitas shredded pork. 1/2 cup barbecue sauce. 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese. 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced. 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves. 1 jalapeo pepper, thinly sliced optional. Olive oil for brushing.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 475F 245C and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer the rolled-out dough to a piece of parchment paper. Brush the pizza dough with a thin layer of olive oil. Spread the barbecue sauce evenly over the pizza dough as the base sauce. Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the barbecue sauce. Evenly distribute the shredded carnitas over the cheese layer. Add the thinly sliced red onion and jalapeo slices if using on top of the carnitas. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top. Transfer the parchment paper with the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven. Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned. Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly. Sprinkle fresh cilantro leaves over the hot pizza. Slice and serve your delicious Carnitas Pizza!
