(anne of green gables) dancing in this world alone, chapter 11
dancing in this world alone - rilla/carl - pg-13
It's true that Carl is not a very good dancer. The band whirls through different songs â a one-step to "Oh What a Time for the Girlies", a foxtrot to "You're Some Pretty Doll." Carl manages to stay on his feet, grinning sheepishly every time he misses a step, but Rilla's danced with worse â she hopes Nellie Clow, newly engaged, has better luck with Mark Warren than Rilla did â and it's somehow not so irritating when it's Carl, perhaps because she knows him so well and it's not his fault that his balance has been affected so. Dancing with him is still fun, especially as he makes her laugh, murmuring commentary in her ear about how so-and-so reminds him of a centipede with too many legs and some of the girls' dresses are the same colors as particularly shiny beetles. "Hmm," Rilla says, leaning back to look at him. "If I were a bug, what kind of bug would I be?" She immediately regrets asking the question, because she's sure he's going to bring up her old Spider nickname, and then â "Rosy maple moth," Carl says, without missing a beat. Rilla is about to swat him for having such an answer prepared, but then he goes on.

I think I'm officially a Carl Meredith/Rilla shipper.
If there was ever anything to forget
Walter died.
Ken came home.
Rilla was miserable.
Carl could see if, even if everyone around him shrugged or shook their heads, murmuring about grief, about getting over it, about sacrifice, prayer, ideals and poppies, waste and the redemptive power of love.
Carl was blind in one eye and still preferred to spend his time studying insects and he could see what was happening. Rilla was in a fair way to being bound for life to Captain Ken Ford, even more handsome with his scarred cheek, even if it would be the worst thing in the world for her and nearly the worst for Ken.
CARILLA (CARLRILLA?) on picrew inspired by @freyafrida !

How Oblivio Should Have Ended pt4
(not a chat meme but an actual ficlet inspired by events in Animaestro)
Alya practically vibrated down the stairs in front of the Tour Montparnasse, showing the âLadynoir confirmation picâ to literally anyone and everyone she passed. Nino smiled at her excitement and shook his head. Adrien gazed off into the distance, his expression halfway between wistful pining and lovestruck wonder, which left Marinette to bring up the rear, her head hing low, looking bewildered, horrified.
âDude, is that your driver?â Nino pointed to the silver car parked just in front of the school bus.
Adrienâs face immediately flattened. âYeah, thatâs him,â he mumbled. âI guess Father wants to give me another Akuma safety lecture.â
âYour pop scolds you for supervillains existing?â
Adrien paused, blinked a couple of times, and said, âNathalie will give me another lecture.â
âYeah, that sounds more like it.â
Alya squealed. âAlmost have this pic ready to upload to the Ladyblog!â
Marinette shook her head and gaped wide-eyed at Alya before she sprang forward and grabbed the arm holding her phone. âD-donât you think Ladybug and Chat Noir would want to keep their potential relationship a secret?â
âI donât know, Marinette,â Adrien said. âThat kiss looked like more than âpotentialâ to me.â
âThe point is, what if Hawkmoth finds out about this and tries to use it against them?â
Alya glanced wide-eyed from Marinette to her phone and back. âYeah, that would have been a good point, like, two seconds ago? Picâs already posted.â She pulled her arm from Marinetteâs grasp, oblivious to the girlâs look of panic, and flicked through some of her blog menus. âAlready been viewed a couple thousand times. I could take it down, but the damage has already been do-â
âAnyone else hear that?â
All eyes turned to Adrien who had his head cocked to the side, listening. The rest followed suit and indeed, they heard what sounded like music, a catchy electronic jingle that Alya and Nino knew all too well. They traced the sound to the silver car parked at the curb, and as they got closer, they heard voices.
âAh, this is fun! A little to the left...yes, yes there! Wow, youâre pretty good at this. But I should have expected that from someone with such big hands. Almost there...almost...there!â
The Gorilla sat in the front seat, his massive left hand gripping a tablet and his thumb manipulating a control. A far more slender hand tapped a button on the right side, and the small penguin on the screen hopped with every tap. The group moved closer to see who sat beside the Gorilla and...
âMs...Bustier?â Marinette asked.
Their teacher turned away from the screen towards the voice and her joy melted away into horror. The Gorilla glanced over his shoulder, his eyes wide, then he yanked the tablet from Ms. Bustierâs grasp and crushed it in his massive hand.
Adrien swallowed thickly âWere you and my driver playing Super Pengui-â
âNO!â Ms. Bustier yelled, her hand blindly searching for the door handle. When she found it, she shoved the door open, climbed out, then winced at how loudly she slammed the door. âNo no! We were, um...discussing, uhhhhh-adult things!â She nodded and strode around the front of the car. âYes, things that are discussed between guardians and caretakers and not anything like that game youâre talking about.â She grabbed each student and began pushing them away from the Gorillaâs car. âWell, would you look at the time! We should get back to the school!â She leaned backwards towards the Gorilla and held her fist by her head, the thumb and pinky extended. âCall me?â she whispered.
The Gorilla smiled and nodded. Once she got the students back on the bus, he dropped his gaze to the crumpled tablet in his hands.
âGotta stop doing that,â he thought.

dancing in this world alone - rilla/carl - pg-13
"It's nice that you girls have chaps dancing attendance on you already," Ruth says, a little wistfully. "I hope you don't mind my saying, but I always heard P.E.I. isn't the sort of place where â the young people are â you know, it's a bit â " "It always sounds like a stricter place than somewhere like Kingsport," Nora says, saving Ruth. Laura laughs, so loudly that a few other shoppers turn to look at her. "Oh, it is," she says. "But Rilla's always been the prettiest girl in the Glen â well, her and Faith Meredith â there've always been boys after them." "Yes, Rilla's always been popular," Una agrees quietly. Rilla supposes it's kind of them to say, although she's smarting slightly from the qualifier of Faith's inclusion. "But you've settled on Carl Meredith, haven't you?" Ruth asks. "I saw you two together at the dance, and you're always walking together."
