BIBLICALLY ACCURATE ROMEO AND JULIET
Juliet: Damn, my boyfriend got banished from the kingdom - I'm gonna drink this random potion that a member of the clergy gave me which mimics death so accurately that no one will be able to figure out I'm alive - what could go wrong! Romeo [a little while later]: OH MY GOD, JULIET IS DEAD - LET ME DRINK POISON INSTEAD OF SITTING AND CRYING FOR LIKE FIVE MORE SECONDS Romeo: [DIES] Juliet: [WAKES UP, LITERALLY FIVE SECONDS LATER] Good morning, RomeoH MY GOD HE'S DEAD - Let me kiss you so I can die with left over poison from your lips...? Juliet [still alive - duh]: Damn, that didn't work - don't know what I expected seeing as that's not how poison works but whatever, I'll just stab myself with the dagger that was sat RIGHT THERE THE ENTIRE TIME. Juliet: [DIES] LATER: Montagues: Damn, our son is dead because of your daughter Capulets: Damn, our daughter is dead because of your son Montagues: Wanna bury our generations old feud over this thing that would arguably make our hatred for each other run deeper and stronger than ever? Capulets: Aight, betttttt.
The Montagues and the Capulets
My whole theory on scam-babies. It's really just a joke but based on what I've been experiencing and observing. Also, just basically thinking about my own life and it's challenges. Do not take it seriously.
Growing up, I had to read a lot of Shakespeare literature. It was a requirement of school. One of the most famous plays written by Shakespeare is Romeo & Juliet. If you think about it, Shakespeare's stuff is one of the main tenets of Western culture aside from The Bible. Not to burst anyone's bubble, but it is.
Now, as far as, Romeo and Juliet goes, I'm not going to delve into it. There's a poignant topic that I wanted to point out. And that is in the story, two families are at odds and fighting. They are the Montagues & the Capulets. It's kinda like a gang war between rival gangs. If you think about people in general, we're also kind of like that. Two rival families.
Now, I know, we live in a world that is very diverse. We have different cultures, different traditions, even different religions. The way I see it is that within every "grouping", there are 2 main rival families. Within every... Now this is just a theory. Not even a theory. Almost a joke because we all know there are countless families out there.
I guess I was trying to talk metaphorically. It's so daunting that the theory is totally false. You can't narrow it down to just 2 families. Still though, it's an interesting idea. Like, for instance, you can say "MY FAMILY" is maybe like a "British Family" even though we're not British. It's kind of like making comparisons.
I'd prob have to get down to the nitty gritty to explain this which I'm not going to. The thing is what happens when "2 people" from the different "rival gangs" get together and have kids when they're not supposed to? Well... Scam-Babies.
Remember, it's a joke. There's no plausible evidence for this kind of stuff and btw we're all human. RIght? There is no merit to it, whatsoever, right?
anyone interested in some thoughts on the three romeo and juliet family dynamics because i have been THINKING about them lately (mainly WHERE are there parents)? + i'd love to hear other people's opinions on their dynamics !!
also hoping spring break gives me time to draw more benvolio and mercutio and maybe get started on a big r&j fic i'm thinking about 👀
