When I typed out the title for this post, I really thought it would be the semi-finale for this little series since these were wrapping up their testing phases. But with recent news on the issues I’ve heard they had, guess we not done yet 😅. . The brand new 5-car consist of Kawasaki R211As sits on one of the lines at Coney Island Yard, awaiting to return to Pitkin Yard after running several tests and trials over the past few days along the lines that spew out of the aforementioned yard. Speaking of that, wondering how I was able to get this shot specifically? Easy: we’re onboard a Coney Island-bound (N), consisting of Pullman-Standard R46 cars, which ironically is what the R211s are meant to replace (about the umpteenth time I’ve emphasized that fact.) If you notice it well enough, the taillight of an R68 can be seen behind the new-tech train. . With the recent issues that I’ve heard this train had while in the testing phase as I mentioned before, as well as the planned date for these to enter revenue service drawing nearer and nearer, the future for these trains are uncertain from my knowledge.
