           the  driver   has pulled the collar of his bomber up. it does nothing, of course, but it’s nice to have around anyway. he finds shelter in the energy depleted NOOK of some lowprice chinese place. doesn’t let the water scrape against his neck. nighttime is, by no means, empty. but compare it to sunlively streets and the evening gatherings (did they ever depart at night? are they so sideparked that they don’t seem to exist after they’ve started?) and you might be reminded of an odd type of desolation.  he doesn’t expect for the downfall to pass anytime soon and his car is nearby (any car is his, but this one in particular had his own registration). approaching sidewalk foosteps interrupt that thought. girl. dressed way too vibrant for this shitty nigthcrawler weather. hurrying, hurrying, probably the start of a streamline from some party, dinner, get-together, take your pick       ———  driver doesn’t comment. he melts into the brick on his back and becomes passive. a temporary observer. 

camera in hand, viewfinder already poised by his eye and finger hovering over the shutter button, he tries valiantly to catch the fleeting candid moment. the flash goes off and he’s left unsatisfied. fingers fiddle with adjustments as whizzer attempts to fix the settings, subject already out of mind.

      ❝ So, time to weigh in, ❞ Greg shifts his gaze toward her as they exit the exhibit, ❝ The guy who spent ten minutes arranging oranges on the ironing board --- total headcase or symbolic work of GENIUS ? ❞ He waggles his brows and grins. There was an obvious case for the former, of course, but being amongst an art crowd, there would surely be arguments otherwise, as well. Before she can respond, however, he cuts in once more. ❝ Actually, hold that thought. What do you say we continue this conversation over a couple of drinks ? I saw a place just down the block as we were walking over. ❞

musical knowledge: i’ve seen a couple episodes of glee. that counts, right?

     “Um-- Hi? I. -- I know we’ve never met but. I. Was really touched by your play... it was just... wow.”

         ‘ what a voice. can you imagine sounding like that? ’ without sacrificing his deadpan expression, cos raises his chin and pinches his nose to give a pitch-perfect imitation. out of earshot, of course. ‘ i don’t think i could live with myself. ’
