A smooth 4 miles for my Friday night and I have to say it feels amazing being able to run consistently again. Last night I bought new inserts for my shoes and they made a world of a difference. During my run tonight I had to stop three times due dogs chasing and barking violently at me. At that point I stop running walk quickly till I'm far enough away from the dog to start jogging again. Wish I could just put on a pair of spikes and take to the track now. It's been almost ten years since I have officially raced on a track. I have ran many times in training on a track but it's not the same. Being here working on the lights brings back all those feelings of being on the starting line. Waiting on the official anxiously as you get set to embark on a journey you have been training for. The crowd cheering. You take a deep breath the gun fires and the clock beings. At that moment you forget about everything around you. For me I embarked on my four lap journey around the track. As I being my training again not to race on a track but, to start doing road races again I find myself hungry to be better than before. The competitive side of me drives me to want to push myself daily hard to be faster and to run longer however, the other older side me says be patient train smarter. In time it will come.
