One thing I really like about Brennan taking the time to briefly describe Thimble's impression of Callowyn Royce is that doing that, in addition to making the stakes of battling Sir Seremai more personal for Thimble, retroactively adds weight to Aranessa's line from the cold open two episodes prior: "They killed our whole family, and now we smell like potatoes."
Because while we the audience already had a clear idea of what Julien, the person she says that line to, lost because we met Raimond Davinos before his death and briefly got to know him as a firm, honorable man at odds with his son because of that sense of honour, we'd never seen or even heard mention of any other members of Aranessa's family beyond a brief reference to her unnamed grandfather. Naming Callowyn and giving him a brief description as a jovial, kind, and good man paints a clearer picture of what exactly Aranessa lost that night. Her family is somewhat of an abstract concept but her kind, jovial, younger brother Callowyn is a person, and he's now dead because of what House Tachonis did.
Hang on, if Callowyn Royce willed Julien his horse, and Maya came down to Castle Torch with a carriage and fairy retinue specifically to talk to Julien and explain what happened at the Golden Orchard, which everyone had to evacuate as it was destroyed... why didn't she bring him the horse??
Like, it works out in this case since they decided to travel to Dol-Makjar via Altradler and thus couldn't bring horses with them, but he's been traveling by horse since he left Dol-Makjar, so it would have been logical to assume that he would have a use for the kind of fancy faerie horse I assume Callowyn would have had (based on Thjazi having one that was apparently intelligent and super-fast in the flashback with Hal) and the Golden Orchard refugees could probably stand to have one less horse to feed and house.
