Characters' Magical Affinity

Oriana Aeryn

Magical Affinity Level: Very High or Grade 2

Oriana is the product of two Noble Mage Houses, House of Aeryn and House of Astier, her parents having been in an arranged marriage as is common practice within the fourteen Noble Mage Houses.

Despite being a Grade 2 Magical Affinity, her parents chose not to enrol her in one of the Towers, for she had duties to be the heiress to the Marquisate, which required different skills than the Northern Tower provided.

Weylian Elliance

Magical Affinity Level: Exceptional or Grade 1

Weylian hails from two Noble Mage Houses, House of Elliance and House of Clemont, both of which are known to produce offsprings with some of the highest Magical Affinity levels possible. Both Houses have very talented and well known Mages in the family, with a long lineage of magical blood.

House of Elliance is also the House of the Northern Grand Mage, a highly prestigious and important role in the Magical Institution and in High Society.

Weylian began magical studies from a very young age, receiving advanced tutoring from the age of five, and progressing into Foundational Magical Education at the Western Tower.

Because Weylian is due to inherit the title of Northern Grand Mage, he needs to be well educated, talented, and exceptional.

Weylian is officially a Great Mage, having conducted his Higher Magical Education and thesis on the acute manifestation of the common folk's Magical Affinity in conjunction with the Southern Tower.

Fynnian Vannier

Magical Affinity Level: Substantial or Grade 4

Fynnian is the son of the Western Duke, one of the highest rankings in High Society, and thus no need for breeding for Magical Affinity. The House of Vannier values intelligence and business mindset more than magic. However, there is still some Magical Affinity in Fynnian's blood, his great grandmother having hailed for House of Chessé.

Again, due to the values of the Western Duke, Fynnian did not attend any education at a Tower, instead having had refined personal tutors and received a foundational education in the Capital much like other young nobles.

Darcy Odellion

Magical Affinity Level: High or Grade 3

Darcy does not hail from any of the fourteen Noble Mage Houses, however he still has remarkable Magical Affinity. House of Odellion has in past produced some high ranking Mage Knights such as the very first Mage Knight of the Royal Guard over a hundred and fifty years ago, and Darcy's older sister Lady Daniella Odellion. The Northern Duke's House of Rosielle tried for many generations to raise Magical Affinity within their House but could not achieve Noble Mage House status before the 'Treason of the Northern Duke', thus Darcy's mother has a High Magical Affinity.

Darcy did not attend the Southern Tower though it was an very possible option. There was no requirement from his father, but his mother was more inclined as it would help in Darcy's eligibility in marriage prospects. His father could see that a young Darcy seemed to dread the idea, and after a year of personal tutoring in Magic to test it out, he ultimately decided for the young boy that Darcy would not attend the Tower, instead receiving a foundational education in the Capital and Knight's Training at the Knight's Training Grounds in the Southern Region.

Calix Auclair

Magical Affinity Level: Low or Grade 6

House of Auclair had their own Arts they were more interested and invested in, and Magical Affinity was not of importance to them, even if it could have been useful for their assassination tactics, it was better without. Magic was easier to trace, and that went directly against the Auclair Arts. However Calix's mother had been a commoner with Moderate Magical Affinity, even having attended the first four years of education at the Southern Tower but she had dropped out to help her family back in the Eastern Region, a fact she came to regret for many years. She would most likely have been better off becoming a Mage Knight than a dancer in a brothel.
