So, because of gate-keeping asshats that hate women (Marisha Ray specifically), this post is made necessary.

Beau's confrontation of Caleb was completely valid. Beau is aware of things that the other members of the party aren't privy to. She knows about his pursuit of power to go back and alter his choices in the past. She saw how he was in the library in Zedash. It was completely reasonable that she would view Caleb wanting to keep this powerful magical object for himself as just another way to amass power.

That being said, this very IN CHARACTER confrontation was a bit too aggressive and poorly executed. (Not Marisha's fault, this. Her character is exactly the type of person to go overboard on someone. Especially if she thinks she's in the right.)

Now, what I have been seeing that I disagree with is that Caleb was just bad at communicating what he wanted with this bowl. Liam (as Caleb) stated after a good 80 to 95 percent of the Mighty Nein turned on him that he was quite succinct in his statements on caution. I agree.

He (Caleb) stated at least twice that he just wanted them (M9) to wait a little while to ensure Cali's intentions were exactly as she told them in the beginning. He explained this bowl was powerful and it enabled communication with a dark god. I don't know how much clearer he should get.

"This allows you to communicate with one of the most evil being's to exist since the dawn of Creation. Can we wait to make sure this woman we met this morning is telling us 100% the truth?"

Then 80 percent of the party was like, "What the fuck, Caleb?! Why you bein' shitty to this rando we met this morning who has admitted to killing and torturing people in the name of a cult that worships the very being this bowl can communicate with? Uncalled for."

And that's when Caleb stopped communicating. He already explained himself, and his allies still turned on him. He was outnumbered, so the smart thing to do in his mind was to stop fighting. They weren't going to have his back. If he explained again, what good would it do? He already disclosed his intentions, and the reaction he got spoke volumes.

I disagree with the notion that Caleb communicated his worry in a shitty way. I think he was entirely clear on what he wanted. He stated why the artifact was dangerous. He stated why he didn't entirely trust Cali. He stated how he wished for them to solve the problem. Clear as crystal. The way the Mighty Nein interpret his caution, however, was a little fucked imo.
