I have no idea who came up with the addition to the cabbage patch Hobbits trope that the faunts just crawl out of the dirt and tell you their names, but it is batshit insane I absolutely love it
From the amazing work Growing Dwarves (and kingdoms)
this fic is so filled with details and love, basically it's own universe! Give it a read🍎
Carving (Series)
by sunryder
It was Bifur who brought him the narrow block of pale green marble.
The stone was smaller than most Dwarves chose, but it was veined with ripples of golden-white, the color of Bilbo’s hair in the midday sun. Bifur laid the block gently down on Thorin’s personal forge and grunted that you didn’t need much to carve a half-Hobbit child.

This is sort of like a reverse companion to the ‘In the Garden’/Cabbage Hobbits verse’s. Where Thorin carves wee Dwobbits from stone. It’s Suuuuuuuuuper cute.

Cabbage Patch Hobbits
Tiny Hobbits (Series)
by moonythejedi394
fauntlings, little ones, small Bagginses, poor babies, these are just a few of the many things to call Bilbo Baggins' "nephews." the dwarves, however, call them tiny Hobbits.
YAAAAAssssssss. Such a cute AU!

Garden in the Mountain (Series)
by Lumelle
Sometimes, Bilbo finds, not everything goes according to plan.
First an injury and the coming winter delay his leaving Erebor, then word from the Shire leaves him mourning his beloved Bag End. And because getting added to Thorin's council isn't trouble enough, Kili is in love with an elf, Fili may or may not have his eyes on a certain little scribe, everyone seems to think he is a lady hobbit, and Thorin needs to find someone to marry.
Okay. So the last part might not be trouble, exactly, except for the part where it makes Bilbo's rather hopeless attachment even more painful. Or it wouldn't if he hadn't possibly accidentally promised to provide Thorin with an heir... and Dáin just might still be scheming something.
Fortunately, if there's one thing hobbits are good at, it's growing things. And Thorin did promise him a garden.
This was SOOOOOO good!!! And so deliciously, wonderfully long. It’s amazing. And it weaves in so many ships and patches up the movie canon to a happy endings and you care about all the characters and their happiness. In my books that is a major accomplishment - there are way too many long -winded books with too many characters that you don’t care about so this author NAILED IT. I was so pleased and surprised and excited to learn more about their story and the big “what happens next”?! I am just so happy to have found this fic. You should totally read it.
Also...... cabbage patch hobbits. Need I say more?
