Summary:
Everything Jamie does for Yanni, a good teammate and concerned friend would do. There’s really no other reason why the alpha notices the shitty guys his friend dates or why he shares his triple-chocolate muffin when the omega is sad or his clothes when Yanni’s cold. Just normal ‘taking care of a friend’-stuff, nothing else.
(It’s totally something else…)
This fic and eleven other drafted and partially written fics were planned for last year's 12 Days of Christmas Challenge. I asked twelve fandom friends to please pick a day and a ship and I would write them a fic... well, it took a bit 😅 but I'm finally able to share the first one - also thanks to this year's @hockeybigbang and @wjgravity picking my fic. Big, big hugs to them for creating the beautiful podfic of this story, and also for beta-reading and all the emotional support 💙
Sneak peek under the cut:
Jamie soon gives in to his instincts, sliding down the wall to sit next to the distressed omega.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.”
Yeah, very believable. But it’s Yanni he’s dealing with – the guy who will smile with a bloody mouth and laugh when he’s hurting. Jamie can’t remember ever seeing him looking so… fragile.
Contemplating his options, Jamie surreptitiously opens his jacket so his scent can flow more freely. With the lack of any kind of blockers today, not even neutralizing spray, he hopes the scents of pack and calm alpha will soothe his friend. The rustling of the paper bag gives Jamie another idea, so he pulls out the triple chocolate muffin.
Knowing Yanni after over three seasons of playing together, Jamie doesn’t bother offering the omega first. It will only lead to protests about how he doesn’t need pity and how chocolate is such a cliché when it comes to omegas and blah blah blah. Forgoing those protests, Jamie breaks off a big piece and shoves it in his own mouth. Yanni doesn’t move, doesn’t look, but when Jamie breaks off another piece and loosely holds it in his direction, Yanni takes it with hardly any hesitation. Can’t complain about clichés when the big, strong alpha cheats right next to him.
They sit in silence like that for a while, sharing Jamie’s muffin piece by piece.
“Got dumped today. Again.”

This fic covers/is part of four events:
💙 The @hockeybigbang 2025 - thank you for running this Big Bang, @wjgravity was an amazing partner 🥰
💙 The @12daysofchristmas challenge - I started writing this fic and eleven more last year, so they mainly fit last year's prompts. All the other fics will still fit perfectly this year's days (or the available alt prompts). Sadly though, this first one doesn't, so it falls a bit out of line... but meh.
💙 The @ao3tagbingo - this fic covers the square Courtship - (it was that prompt that thankfully gave me the idea for the entire plot in the first place!)
💙 The @flufftober fluff bingo - this fic covers the square Hoodie

TimKon, Fluff, humour, Kon being a good boyfriend, Grumpy Tim.
Summary: To help with his self-care, Kon comes up with a daily to do list for Tim to follow. Tim isn't pleased with this new development.
A/N: This idea came from the Fluff Bingo card from flufftober and the square 'to do list.'
Enjoy! :D
“What’s this?”
“What’s what?”
“This.” Tim holds up the piece of paper pointedly and shakes it. “What the fuck is this?”
Kon stares at him for a long moment and Tim dreads for whatever is about to come out of his mouth. “Are you referring to the piece of paper or what’s on the piece of paper?”
“What do you think Kon? What the fuck is this?"
Tim’s losing his patience. He had woken up that morning in a foul mood and seeing this piece of paper pinned on the fridge hasn’t helped. It also doesn’t help he hasn’t had his morning coffee yet.
Not answering him straight away, Kon goes to the counter and starts up the coffee machine. Tim appreciates it but he’s only delaying the inventible.
“Kon!”
His boyfriend continues to ignore him until he has a steaming cup of coffee in his hands and walks over to Tim and holds it out for him to take. A bold move really. If it wasn't the coffee that Tim so desperately needed, he would have thrown it in Kon’s face. Taking a sip and sighing at the taste, he breathes deeply and centres himself.
“Once again,” he says slowly, “what the hell is that piece of paper?”
Kon hums and still doesn’t answer him. Maybe Tim could sacrifice the coffee after all, he could always make another. “C’mere.”
Kon grabs his waist and directs him to the kitchen island, he makes him sit down and grabs the piece of paper and puts it in front of him. Wrapping his arms around Tim, Kon hooks his chin over his shoulder.
Finally he starts explaining himself.
“I’ve noticed you’ve had several hard days recently, more like a hard couple of weeks, so I’ve put this list together to help you get healthy and back into a somewhat normal routine again.”
Tim pauses, taking in what his boyfriend just said. He’s still not in the best of moods so he instantly goes on the defensive. “Okay, one, I’m fine. Two, this is ridiculous, I don’t need help being healthy or whatever. Three, there is no having a routine, everyday is so not normal Kon. You know this.”
Kon hums and gives him a squeeze. Tim tries to not melt into the warmth he’s providing. “In the last two weeks have you, or have you not, pulled six all nighters? Have you, or have you not, pulled at least three muscles and sprained two more? Have you, or have you not, eaten a single decent meal in the last five days? Have you, or have you not, been benched for the next week? Have you-”
“Okay! Enough!” Tim shouts over him. “Geeze, no need to attack me so early in the morning Kon.”
Kon pulls out his phone from his pocket and turns on the screen showing the time. “Technically it’s late morning, 11:33 to be exact.” He pockets his phone and hugs Tim again.
Tim runs a hand over his face, feeling too tired to be dealing with this shit. The looks at the piece of paper. “What’s the point in this then? ‘Tim’s daily to do list.’”
“As I was saying,” as Kon talks Tim could hear the smile in his voice. He’s tempted to throw his coffee at him again. “I’ve put this list together for you, and the aim is that you tick off each thing throughout the day for the next week. It’s to help with your self-care. If you have something to aim for then you’re most likely to do it. I can badger you all I like but it’s unlikely you’ll listen to me.”
Tim admits he feels warmth spread through him at Kon’s concern. His boyfriend is admittedly just looking out for him and instead of hovering over him like a helicopter parent, he’s come up with a different method to get this to work.
Tim knows he hasn’t been right over the last couple of weeks. Work at WE has been insane, his Gotham Knight’s Shelter has also taken up a lot of his time and that’s not even mentioning the case load he has as Red Robin and for the Titans.
As a result of burnout Bruce’s benched him for the next week as Kon pointed out. He’s planning on spending the week at his apartment in Gotham so he’s still nearby if anything does rise but he’s also in his own space rather than in the Manor. Kon’s opted to stay with him for most of the week until he needs to go back to the farm at the weekend.
Reading over Kon’s list he finds none of it is outlandish. Everything he’s included seems reasonable enough. Kon’s put the effort into this so the least Tim can do is give it a go.
“Okay fine, I’ll give it a go. Do I get a reward if I complete it?” He asks smiling mischievously at Kon.
Kon blinks, as if he’s surprised by the question and doesn’t have an answer. “Uh, I guess? I'm sure I can think of something.”
Reaching up with one hand Tim grips Kon’s nape and pulls him in for a kiss and Kon doesn’t resist as Tim pushes his tongue past his lips. Their lips mould together and Tim lets out a little pleased hum as he tastes his boyfriend. They break apart although Kon dives back in for a few more pecks before they properly separate.
Kon grins widely. “I can definitely think of some rewards you can have if you complete this.”
Tim snickers and looks back at the paper. “I thought you might. I look forward to claiming them.”

“Hey, Ella,” Red called as she saw the younger version of her newfound friend's mum walk out of one of her classes, a hand raised to wave her over. Chloe’s brows pinched together as her eyes scanned between her mother and Red, attempting to decipher what Red could possibly want with her mum instead of her own. Once Ella stepped over to them, Chloe shook herself out of her thoughts and shot Ella a smile, both of them waiting for Red to speak up once again. “Have you seen Bridget? We haven’t seen her since the whole Uliana incident.”
“No, I haven’t seen her either come to think of it,” Ella murmured, taking a quick scan around the hallway the three of them were in before a concerned look made its way onto her face. Chloe couldn’t tell what that look could mean, unexpectedly foreign to everything about this version of her mum. “But I can help you look for her since my next class is with her.”
“Great,” Red exclaimed, a large grin spreading across her face as she hovered around Ella. Still unused to the layout of Auradon or Merlin Academy, Red didn’t know where to begin looking, leaving that up to Ella to decide. Chloe may have a bit more luck in the sense of the direction, visiting Auradon occasionally to see her brother whenever there was an event taking place at the school, but it was still vastly different to what she had come to know. “Do you have any ideas where she could be? Any places that she goes to when she needs to think or… something?”
“Have you checked her dorm?” Ella asked to which both girls nodded in response to, Briget’s dorm being the first place they checked once they were able to get away from one of the classes they had been roped into. That made Ella’s face contort a bit more as she thought of all the unusual places Bridget might be lurking in between classes. She must’ve had a free period, Ella thought. There wasn’t enough time in between classes to hang out or do whatever, there was hardly enough to even go to your locker and get the book you needed. “She might be in the courtyard somewhere. She normally sits out there when she's looking for a new recipe to try out.”
“That’s perfect,” Chloe said, ready to start walking and go looking for Bridget. With how close Castlecoming was, they couldn’t afford for her to leave their sight. As Chloe walked through the hallway, a loud cough caught her attention. Spinning on her heel to see what was up, she came face to face with Ella who was staring at her with a raised brow. Right, Merlin Acadamy was different to Auradon Prep. With a sheepish smile, Chloe asked, “Would you like to lead the way?”
“Sure,” Ella responded with a crooked smile before starting off in the right direction, leading the newcomers to where Bridget could potentially be. They walked for a few moments in silence, Red and Chloe slightly behind Ella’s pacing as they eyed one another, attempting to have a silent conversation as to what Bridget may be doing and how this could be related to the prank that created their future when Ella turned around abruptly, walking backwards as she asked, “Why do you need to find Bridget anyway?”
“Uh,” Red floundered for a second, trying to think of a lie on the spot while Chloe was two seconds away from revealing the truth about everything. The longer they took to answer, the more suspicious Ella grew, her eyes narrowing a bit as her pace slowed, forcing them to shorten their steps to not overtake Ella. “She said she’d show us around to all of our classes but we didn’t know where to meet her after each one so we’re a bit lost.”
“Makes sense,” Ella nodded, spinning back around to lead them out of the school's building and into the large open space the grounds had. Red’s eyes instantly began scanning the area for her mum, hoping to find some pink peeking out from around a corner so she could relax and know her mum was safe. “I could also show you guys around if you ever needed it. Normally they have someone give new students a tour if they come late in the year but they must’ve forgotten to this time.”
“Yeah, must’ve,” Chloe trailed off, joining Red in her search. Ella looked to be the only one who wasn’t actively looking for Bridget, just leading them around and hoping they would stumble upon her, though Ella must’ve had to find Bridget on numerous occasions to not be concerned at all as to where she might be. “Does Bridget disappear often? You just seem really calm even though we don’t know where she is.”
“Bridget’s a big girl, she can take care of herself,” Ella easily supplied, shrugging her shoulders as they continued their search. The more they looked, the more Chloe was beginning to lose hope that Bridget might be in the courtyard, though the grounds seemed to stretch on for ages. If they didn’t find her soon then they might have to try a different location, though Chloe wasn’t sure how much longer Ella could stay with them before she was late for class. They had already been gone for quite a while so there was no doubt in Chloe’s mind that classes had already begun. “That and this isn’t the first time she’s lost track of time and missed a couple minutes of class trying to find something new to bake. I normally always find her in the same spot which should be right around here.”
Just as Ella said it, the three of them rounded a corner, in front of them but still a few metres away was Bridget sitting at a picnic bench, her skirt fanning around her seat as a closed cooking book was placed in the space next to her. Chloe could see the side of her face, a smile on her face as she looked down at something she hadn’t yet taken notice of. Getting ready to call out to the cheerful girl, Chloe was suddenly yanked back by her jacket, the breath leaving her as she was pulled behind the wall they just stepped around.
“What was that for?” Chloe hissed, looking over her shoulder to where Red was clutching onto her.
“Look,” Red whispered while pointing at Bridget. Chloe’s head spun back around to see what she was trying to indicate to look at. Squinting her eyes to try and help, Chloe was about to raise another question when she finally spotted what Red was trying to show her. Kneeled just in front of Bridget was Captain Hook. Chloe’s jaw dropped at the sight of Bridget’s hands being held by James Hook as the two spoke to one another.
“We’re too far away to hear what they’re saying,” Ella murmured, crouched on the floor as her head stuck around the corner and tried to get a better look. It was to no avail though as the picnic table and Bridget blocked most of Captain Hook. “We need to get closer?”
“How?” Chloe asked, not seeing any hiding points they could use to their advantage. Chloe didn’t get any form of response as Ella took off in a crouched run to a nearby tree, hiding behind it before Bridget or Hook could get wind of her actions. Chloe was again about to ask another question before Red followed in Ella’s actions, making quick work of getting to the large oak tree and hiding behind it. The two of them looked at Chloe expectantly, waiting for her to join them. Murmuring to herself, Chloe said before she made a quick sprint to the tree, “Here goes nothing.”
Taking quick steps, Chloe almost slammed into Red in her efforts to get behind the tree without being noticed. It seemed it didn’t matter what they did though as Bridget and Hook were too caught up in one another to pay attention to them.
“You know,” Hook started, reaching a hand up to curl some of Bridget’s hair around his finger. The grin on Bridget’s face immediately widened at the action, a trickle of nervous laughter escaping her lips as she waited for him to finish his sentence. At the same time that Bridget’s laughter reached their ears, Red stiffened next to them, clearly not liking the sight in front of them. “The two of us are going to be awfully late to our next class.”
“If he doesn’t back away I’m going to feed him to the Jabberwocky,” Red hissed, hands scrunching into tight fists.
“That’s okay,” Bridget’s voice came out in an airy sigh, almost leaning into Hook’s hand. She looked completely smitten, like she was hanging onto Hook’s every action and word. “As long as I get to spend time with you away from the others then it doesn’t matter.”
“About that,” Hook sighed, backing up from Bridget only slightly, his hand leaving her hair to once again fiddle with her delicate fingers. Bridget’s brows furrowed at the unexpected retreat, a sombre expression captivating Hook’s face and making her more aware of what was happening. “I’m sorry about the whole Uliana thing that happened earlier. I told her it was pointless to steal your flamingo feathers but you know Uliana; she always has to be doing something she considers wicked.”
“Oh, that’s whatever,” Bridget easily brushed off, her shoulders bunching up in a shrug as she acted like being chased around the school by an angry Uliana who had been turned partly into a flamingo was no big deal. “I tried to warn her but she just didn’t listen.”
“Maybe next time you can save me one of your cupcakes before they get ruined?” Hook suggested, making Bridget grin shyly and her legs to swing back in little kicks.
“Why is he acting like this in front of my mum- Bridget? In front of Bridget?” Red said, having to save herself since they were in front of Ella. The two of them must be starting to look really suspicious since Chloe had also messed up in front of Ella, accidentally calling her mum as well, although she hadn’t been able to save it as gracefully.
“He must not be able to act this way in front of his own friends,” Chloe suggested, baffled by the turn of events that was playing out in front of them.
“Whatever the reason, I don’t like it.”
“Maybe we should leave them be for a bit,” Ella warned, her eyes stuck to the way Bridget and Hooked were glued to one another, their eyes never straying from the other as they spoke, secluded from everyone else. “It feels like we’re intruding.”
“I’ll make sure I bake extra next time,” One of Bridget’s hands lightly flicked to the cookbook by her side, its cover a mixture of pastels. Her lashes seemed to be fluttering wildly at Hook as a soft blush coated her cheeks. Hook’s face remained a mixture of content and smug as his thumb ran along the back of the hand that Bridget let him keep. Shyly, Bridget offered, “Maybe you can help me taste test, James?”
“Yep, definitely time to leave,” Red announced, grabbing onto Chloe’s arm and pulling her away before she could hear any objections. Ella chased after them once she realised they were gone, but not after watching Bridget and Hook for a few extra moments. Before Ella caught up enough for her to hear, Red mumbled to Chloe, “I’m not watching as my mum flirts with Captain Hook.”
Eddie couldn’t point out why that one name sounded so off putting to him. All he knew was that there was this new kid at your work and you’ve been talking about him for the past two minutes.
You were currently going on about how bright the kid was. How he was a hard worker which you were glad about considering your last couple coworkers have been slack offs. But that name just kept pricking the back of his brain. Well that and Venom’s voice that never shut up.
Unsure when you were planning to give him the chance to talk he interrupted you, “sorry, what did you say his name was again?”
“Oh, his name is Peter, um…Peter Parker I think it was.”
‘Peter Parker! Eddie, we know Peter Parker!’
You continue on, your voice becoming background noise while Eddie seems to be putting pieces together.
This happened for a while, his facial expression growing weirder by the second.
“Yeah he just started this week but he’s already gotten down so much…” you tilted your head sentence being interrupted by the fact that Eddie hadn’t met your eye for a minute now.
“Hey,” that seemed to get his attention, “have you been listening to me?”
“Hm? Yes of course I’m listening to you,” he said motioning for you to continue and after giving him a side glance you did.
‘Tell what we know.’
Eddie’s face scrunched up and you tilted your head pausing and wondering if he had something to say but when he didn’t, you continued.
‘Eddie we promised no more secrets.’
‘Eddie. Say it.’
Eddie brought a hand up covering his mouth, while he mumbled a shut up which Venom obviously ignored.
‘Say it. If you won’t I will.’
“Eddie? Eddie are you okay?” You asked concern clear on your face. He hasn’t said much the past few minutes and his expressions kept shifting in odd ways.
‘Don’t be a loser Eddie. Say it.’
That was the last straw for Eddie. “Can everyone just be quiet for one…second!”
That got the both of you quiet. Shifting in your seat you push yourself away from the counter table, “seems like Venom has much more interesting things to say than me, so I’ll just leave you and Venom to it then.”
They watched as you made your way to the couch only a few feet from them. You couldn’t blame Eddie for his outburst, you knew Venom was always in his ear. There was nothing he could do about that.
“Look what you did, Eddie.”
“What!? I did?!” He whisper-yelled, “no buddy, this is all you.”
“If you just said what I told you to say then we wouldn’t be in this situation.”
“No if you never got in my head we wouldn’t be in this situation.”
You heard some more back and forth, trying to block it out to give them privacy. Sure you were slightly concerned but ultimately those two usually worked things out on their own.
You heard, “okay I’m going,” followed by some footsteps and then Eddie plopped himself on the other end of the couch.
He didn’t make any movements he just sat there.
“I’m not going to bite, you can come closer,” you said, refusing to look his way yet.
“Right.” He scooched over a tiny bit.
You two sat there for a moment, heads turned to the screen and you were beginning to wonder if he’d actually say something anytime soon. But you didn’t get to wonder too long.
“I’m sorry,” he started, already positioning his body towards you. “That outburst was in no way directed towards you.”
“I know that Eddie, it’s okay.”
You sit there again before you finally ask curious what all the fuss was about anyway, “so what was that all about?” You question, pointing towards the counter where you all were seated just a moment ago.
Eddie pushes his lips into a line and brings his eyebrows together causing a wrinkle to crease in the center of his forehead.
“What were you jealous or something?“ you tease causing him to give a little laugh. “No. I’m not jealous.”
‘We are a little.’
“No. No.”
He pauses again and your curiosity builds up, “so…what is it then?”
Letting out a breath he decides it’s better to tell you now than have you sit here mad at him for not telling you. “Okay, so remember when I told you that I was like sucked into a portal into another universe and you made that face, the one that makes me feel like I’m crazy.”
He paused and pointed at your face, “that’s it, you’re doing it right now.”
You shook your head quickly, shaking off your expression, “no I’m not. Go on.”
“Well when I was sucked into that…other place, there was a guy. His face was everywhere, on tv all over the news, he was sorta a good guy—a hero. He had superpowers and everything. Well that guy—that kid was named Peter Parker.”
Although you tried your best to conceal your expressions you couldn’t help but have your eyes widen at the revelation.
He nodded before continuing, “but it seemed like the whole world turned on him for killing one guy is what I understood.”
Eddie takes a moment to think and when you’re about to ask him something he starts abruptly, “—and if he’s the good guy and he’s a kid and people are turning on him for killing one guy, a bad guy I would assume, what does that make me?”
You angle your body laying a comforting hand on his leg while he goes on. “Venom eats people—granted it’s bad people, but it’s still people,” he faces you expression torn, “am—am I the bad guy?”
You barely wait a beat before protesting his worries, “hey don’t start with that. Look at me,” to make your point you gently reach out and press your hands against his scruff that covered cheeks his skin feeling warm against yours.
“You are not the bad guy here,” his eyes are all big and wide while he looks up at you from his brown hues. “What Venom does is…unorthodox yes but you are not bad. Eddie you have your own problems—just as any one—but one word I would never ever use to describe you is bad. You do your best with what you have.”
Eddie’s looking at you one moment and then the next his forehead is pushed against your shoulder.
“Better?” You ask as he responds with a nod against you.
After a moment of just resting like that he mumbles out, “thank you, I needed to hear that…and I’m sorry for yelling earlier.”
“Yeah that was uncalled for,” you joke and he smiles against your body, thankful for being so fortunate to have you by his side.
It took a few weeks for his regulars to get used to the shadow in the back of the club. A few weeks for them to stop looking over their shoulders. A few weeks for the stiff, crystal-cold politeness to wear off again.
Jazz played his dirtiest songs to help speed things along. It had the added benefit of pulling a small, indecent smile from his prim and proper lawmech.
Jazz refused to play in any club with the word “The” in front – “The Optic” “The Delicate Crystal” “The Energon Fountain” – or a menu posted outside. If there wasn’t half a dozen promo stickers on each self-serve energon tap and a rust spot on the stage with a strategic chair over it – it was too rich for him. His regulars worked long, hard jobs and came to him to let the music shake their sparks back into alignment. There was nothing delicate about it.
He’d enjoyed the shocked looks he and Prowl had gotten the first time Prowl had brought him to one of his table top game nights.
It took a few weeks for the others to get used to him leaning over Prowl’s shoulder. A few weeks for them to start using their character voices again. A few weeks before the they stopped starting their sentences with “I know it’s silly, but –“ when he asked for explanations.
Then Prowl started up an absurd romance between two…extras? Place holder characters? – that seemed very familiar. The rest of his group was split between affectionate mocking and groaning as he had them end at the same Inn as their characters for the fourth time. Each time Prowl pretended to be shocked when there was only one berth left.
Later, Prowl would admit he did it purely to see Jazz smile.

Will admit I am not so great at writing fluff. (Which is why I wanted to challenge myself with this card.) I’m opening it to requests! If you have characters or a scenario in mind for a square, send it to my askbox!
