Introduced as a 1969 model, the W114 series was facelifted for 1974 with 5mph bumpers, rain gutters for the A-pillars, fluted tail lights, a shorter/wider grill, and integrated rear view mirrors.
The ‘vent’ windows in the front doors are interesting:  DB decided to eliminate the opening vent windows in the W114, going to a 1 piece window, which necessitated a new window regulator.  But they opted NOT to apply this change to the coupes (cost? packaging?).  But they still wanted to apply the new corporate rear view mirror to the door, so the vent had to become fixed, and the mirror ended up with its weird placement.Â
