It's then that Edith reappears, explaining that everyone being excited about the house guests and the play had made her feel neglected, and she'd hightailed it to Sam's mom's house, which Sam would have known if she'd not ignored her mother's phone calls. Flower helps Edith deal with her feelings of jealousy at being ignored and her loneliness because of being the only child in the house as they both ponder why they're still around.

Isaac and Nigel (but primarily Isaac) demand a story from Sass, who comes up with one that will surprise them for sure, but also ends up surprising everyone else, especially when the story's "theme song" Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?" is played as a hint.

As the house tries to find something for Charles to do with himself that doesn't involve war (and call in Wally if nothing works), he struggles with the fact that Gerhard adjusted so much better, until an encounter with Nigel (and Isaac) out of desperation finally leads to something that piques his interest.

Charles isn't particularly happy when Rose decides to befriend Gerhard after she helps him reunite head with body because of a prank on Sam by him and Thor. Her actions bring back fears from the war and Charles becomes convinced she's out to hand him and his allies over to the enemy, drawing the whole house into things in order to protect Rose from whatever he's planning for revenge.
