Sorry for the ultra vague last post on our new #E36 project. Inside of a week our summer cruiser #BMW #318ic has really transformed from a very basic, very wine-country sun kisser into a rather fun, best of ‘95 ///M options gas-sipper that I can’t stop looking back at. Even though the lil #M44 1.9 4 cylinder is in a world of its own of boredom and anemia compared to the 6 cylinders, it does remind me of just how much I missed my old #E30 #318is. For any longtime followers, you may even remember how I made the insane but truthful claims of missing the #M42 after #S52 swapping that car and making nearly double the power of the inline4. Honestly the simple balance the #318is was so highly praised for was lost. Seriously, its an entirely different driving experience of a front end that feels like a feather, power that is almost non-existent (although a rev-happy chainsaw can have its moments), a momentum/efficiency/planning driving game just puttin’ it around especially with any elevation change. But for some reason, maybe just novelty, hot weather or nostalgia; I keep grabbing the keys to it and making excuses to take it anywhere. Each day, we’re making it better and I think this audience can all relate how much we love that feeling. Perhaps thats the beauty to the whole experience of an old forgotten Bavarian ragtop. Either way, we’re loving the adventure. 🍻 @rude.scott #pillarless #renown #moreagreen #ds1 #mtech #oemplus www.renownusa.com (at Renownusa.com San Francisco) https://www.instagram.com/p/CeAiLA2O3hi/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Sleek lines & 90s minds...German Engineering at its best.💾 #bmw #e31 #8series #840ci #m62b44 #msport #bmwclassic #bigcoupe #pillarless #90skids #cosmosblack #nostalgic #germanengineering
1976 280C, the last production year of the /8 coupe.
Introduced as a 1969 model, the W114 series was facelifted for 1974 with 5mph bumpers, rain gutters for the A-pillars, fluted tail lights, a shorter/wider grill, and integrated rear view mirrors.
The ‘vent’ windows in the front doors are interesting: DB decided to eliminate the opening vent windows in the W114, going to a 1 piece window, which necessitated a new window regulator. But they opted NOT to apply this change to the coupes (cost? packaging?). But they still wanted to apply the new corporate rear view mirror to the door, so the vent had to become fixed, and the mirror ended up with its weird placement.

Took my ‘75 to the Hines Drive cruise today… super humid and muggy, but the A/C (and the car) performed flawlessly.
Mercedes C124 (1987 to 1995)
Such an elegant profile.
Compared to the sedan, the rear deck is a little lower, the windshield and backlight are angled more steeply, the wheelbase is a touch shorter, and of course, the B-pillar is removed.
