1 year ago I went under the knife & had the gastric sleeve surgery. After years of struggling with my weight & many health issues, I made the choice to make the change & make it a permanent one. One year ago I was 220 pounds. Was type 2 diabetic & Drs wanted me on insulin. Diagnosed me with rheumatoid arthritis. & had the unfortunate reality of infertility. All of these medical reasons, along with other personal reasons, pushed me to make this change. I was 24 years old & would not accept that living with those health conditions was my fate. Now, exactly 1 year later I weigh in at 120 pounds. 100 pounds lost FOREVER! I'm healthy & im the person I always wanted to be, physically, mentally, emotionally. I no longer show any signs that I was ever diabetic. I no longer show heightened rheumatoid levels, nor do I need to be on medication anymore, a simple ibuprofen does the trick on rainy days. & ive been given the blessed news that one day I'll be able to have a family. Having this surgery has completely changed my life in so many ways for the better. I'm so glad I took the leap & kept fighting. & im so blessed that god pointed me in the direction of the amazing Dr Seun Sowemimo & Dr Lori Skurbe. Without them guiding me & helping me I'd still be on insulin, metformin, hormone replacement, & a slew of medications I no longer need to take. I want to thank EVERYONE from the bottom of my heart who has stuck by me throughout all the years & throughout this past year of my amazing journey. I would not have been able to do this alone. I'm so thankful for the support group I have. Thank you all for pushing me when I just wanted to give up. You're all amazing & I love you all dearly.
