This is the first time that any dingo who so much as looks at a human hasn't been killed. This also coincides with the Butchulla people of K'gari being reinstated as the rightful land owners. Media and first hand accounts have made no statements regarding this (my own) speculation, but one can only hope that this means a better future for the dingoes and people of K'gari.
For anyone who needs some background story: two tourists were jogging through clearly indicated dingo territory, and despite being told not to run, they did. Two juvenile dingoes chased them, and one nipped one woman on the leg. As it has been in every time there has been a negative interaction between dingoes and people, it was a direct result of people being stupid. No other way to put it. The injury was minor, and I can only imagine the laughter of anyone who works in a vet surgery if they saw it, then saw reports of media calling it a 'mauling' and saying the dingoes were trying to 'bring them down'. The dingo community were bracing for another mass cull of dingoes, or a witch hunt against the two young dingoes. We can breathe for a while, now it has been confirmed that this isn't going to happen this time, despite the dingoes now being watched closely by park rangers (the ones who carry out the killing). I'm glad they didn't meet the same fate as Inky and his brothers.
