But it hurts, so much so that Sirius is surprised. It's painful, it feels just like those times when his mother tortured him with her own magic, like a crackling fire on his skin. It hurts to know that all the hitting and screaming and cursing was just his mother's sick way of showing them love. He could almost laugh, were it not for the fact that it never occurred to Sirius that the root of all suffering, every drop of his blood that Walburga brought down, was somehow love.
