I hate that people so often regard Jonathan as dumb or naive or that he didn’t “see any of the warning signs” because he did. When the people started acting strangely on May 4th (aka today) he literally ended his journal entry with “if this book should reach Mina before I do” like mate, what do you think he means by that? Obviously he saw it, he felt uneasy, yet he chose to move on because what else was he to do? As far as he could tell, these where simply superstitions. Of course in hindsight you’d think differently of his actions.
