haha i've been working on a lil christopher fic for an ask that's taking a bit longer than expected, so here's a bit from that!
"how did you do that?" buck is saying, blue eyes big and comically startled. chris cackles from his seat on buck's shoulders, legs swinging and fingers tangled in buck's loose curls, soft from where he'd taken a shower at eddie's last night without the usual pomade afterwards. "i didn't know you were the real superman!"
"you're carrying me, buck!" chris informs him, but he's grinning widely, a surprised giggle-snort bursting from his throat as buck swings the both of them around, ducking and weaving so that christopher looks for a moment like he's really flying through the air.
buck sees him, then, gaze flickering over what eddie is rapidly remembering is his mostly-bare body before grinning just as widely as the boy on his shoulders.
he catches eddie's eye and winks, and eddie curses every ounce of swedish blood in his veins for how easily it turns him pink, how visible it is on his mostly-naked body. "hm," buck says, faux-considering. "i don't think i am. i think i'm just seeing a whole flying kid allllllllll by himself. right, eddie?"
21. Can you accurately predict how long your fics are going to be? If you can, what's your secret?
mmmm i mean i can generally guess if they're gonna be 'short' or 'long', and my short fics are usually 800 words to 3k-ish, and my long fics tend to be around 10ish-25k, so i guess that's always where i ballpark my fics? if they're chaptered i generally assume 1-2k per chapter, and based on that i can ballpark where i think i'll land. obv im not always accurate (looks tiredly at as i walk with the sun and how do we forgive ourselves), but eh they end up however long they end up.
28. Any writing advice that works for you and you feel like sharing?
mmmmmm i guess common advice but i really do think being widely read makes u better at writing. like unlike many talented authors here i do not have a background in writing beyond like. AP english in high school. but i genuinely love reading and i have a deep understanding of my own tastes and talents because of how much i read, i guess?
also conform to the genre -- what works in original fiction doesn't necessarily (and often flat out does not) work in fanfic, and vice versa. i stand by the fact that many popular au fics in fandoms should just be original works and are in fact not great examples of fanfic, just like how many published fics are good fics but either aren't or need a lot of work to be good works of original fiction. familiarize yourself with the conventions of both and decide what spaces you want to work in.
36. How do you come up with fic titles? What's the one you're most proud of?
i don't.........................i just go into my playlists and vaguely choose whatever lyric i think works....................my next to normal series is the only really consistent titling i have and that's because last year i made myself laugh thinking 'buddie would both throw up and cry watching n2n for different reasons' lol.
