i've been thinking about getting back into the btvs comics lately. i heard spike and i got back together in them and while i understand with perfect clarity that our relationship in canon is, well, not of the good - the part of me that remembers MY relationship with spike kind of overpowers that. it came as such a shock and betrayal when That Scene happened. i didn't even know what kin was at the time, and even then it felt so, so wrong. he would never do that. - buffy summers ⚰️

Canon Death Counts:
Clarke Griffin- If memory serves that number was looking pretty damn close to batting 1,000. They uh… They didn’t call me Wanheda, the Commander of Death, for no reason. Some of those deaths were more of a mercy thing but it’s still a death nonetheless and should be counted as such. And for the record? No spoilers for a show that ended in fucking 2020 (didn’t realize it’d been that long, oh god no) but one particular bit of season 7 I’m not counting in that number because that specific death Simply Did Not Happen and the show writer’s days are Numbered. Buffy Summers- Considering my Powers-That-Be given purpose on this Earth was to kill vampires, gonna say that number is safely Up There, from what I can gather, canonically it’s about 300 but as I said, considering my Job Title I’m fairly sure that number was about as high if not higher than the Clarke numbers. The world may never know but goddammit if Buffy Summers didn’t get the job done.
Natalia Romanova (Black Widow)- Similarly and well there might be trend here but we don’t have time to unpack all of that, I had a much more mild dose of super serum per comics canon and aged fairly slowly so I had a plethora of time to rack up some Numbers, and that’s probably the highest death count, looking into it and from my own memories that number is probably upwards of 1,000-2,000. When you’re raised to be a weapon on mass destruction pointed at a threat and told “Go my shithound, hunt down my adversaries,” you do what you gotta do to survive and complete a missions perimeters and sometimes that’ll put some significant red in your ledger.
Whelp. Those numbers are higher than I expected and that was a Pandora’s Box I definitely should have left closed on all accounts but all’s fair in love and ask games, I think Shakespeare said that.
