DIY Bubble Wands
Didn't really have a chance to buy much for Easter with the the province being pretty much on lockdown, but I made some Easter-themed bubble wands out of copper jewelry wire, natural bamboo skewers, and a single glass bead for each wand.
I know the kids will use them and they were easy to make! Win-win!
Happy Easter! 🐰
[image description: two large bubble wands, one orange, one green, sitting on a blue, white and black tree-silhouette-on-night-sky quilt cover. The green wand is a standard size with a hollow, oval-shaped handle and a clear green tube; the orange wand is twice as thick with a slightly longer clear orange tube and a double-size plastic handle shaped like that of a lightsaber, complete with ridge contouring down the haft and a guard in front of what would be called the ricasso, if a lightsaber were a sword.]
For Aussies: Woolworths has the Jumbo Bubble Tube on a half price sale for $1 AUD.
It’s a cheap bubble wand that looks a lot like a lightsaber. I think that sells it for most of us! I’ve photographed it beside one of the Big-W wands I’ve featured previously for scale - it’s only a little longer but much wider and has a much more interesting handle, although some of the edges are sharp.
However, people with hand disabilities should know that this thing is heavy. It wasn’t so bad when shopping because I just stashed it into my roller trolley, but when I brought it home and used to blow bubbles, it made my wrist ache holding it up for just one blow. By three, I was done. That handle is so unbalanced and adds so much extra weight to the blower, and the larger tube only makes it worse for me to handle.
If you don’t have problems with handling heavy items, it’s a bargain. If you do, it’s not even worth a dollar. I can’t use it at all save as a source of bubble liquid with which to fill up my smaller wand ... but chances are high I’m going to spill it everywhere in so doing. Not worth it to me at all, even if it is pretty!
