Iron Maiden’s 2006 effort, A Matter Of Life And Death, comes just shy of being something great. Yet again all the elements are there, it’s impassioned and ambitious, but there’s nothing to make it truly exceptional. Far from their worst, but definitely not their best; it’s the kind of album that left me thinking yes, this is definitely a heavy metal album, and that’s it. Highlight tracks include These Colours Don’t Run, Brighter Than A Thousand Suns, The Longest Day, and Lord Of Light. Available on iTunes and Spotify.
