Was it because Sansa wanted someone protecting Bran that she could trust?

Or was it because Sansa manipulated Jaime into running off to Kings Landing and back to Cersei’s arms.

I think it was the latter. I think it was all in the theme of love being the death of duty and duty being the death of love. The themes make sense for Brienne and Jaime too. Their duty and oaths to opposing sides is what kept them apart for so long.

Jaime’s duty and yes love for his sister and unborn child drew him back to an almost certain death.

Did Brienne chose to break her oaths to Sansa over her love for Jaime?

I think in some of the missing scenes Brienne leaves Winterfell before Sansa, either with or without Sansa’s blessing. They were definitely not still together by the time of the Powwow.

Given how Jaime barely made it into the city before the fighting started I imagine didn’t and was Brienne standing outside watching it burn.

This makes Sansa a much more lonely figure on the throne than even she first appears.
