What exactly are endog/enic systems? Sorry, I'm still new to terminology!
hey lovely! no need to apologize, took me a long time to figure it out and i think there’s a lot i still don’t get.
first of all, ‘system’ is what people with DID/OSDD tend to call themselves to caption all alters; the alters form a system.
second - endogenic systems (i wrote it with a slash so the search engine won’t catch it but eh) are what people call systems that formed without trauma.
except that systems can only form through childhood trauma. DID/OSDD is a coping mechanism of the brain; as response to often severe early childhood trauma. DID/OSDD cannot form after the age of 6-9 because by then the brain has developed to a degree that the splitting that is ‘needed’ to create alters can no longer happen (except when you already have split by that age because then your brain “knows the trick” so to say).
i’m a bit foggy in the head so i hope my explanation is clear! again, feel free to message me if you have any more questions and i’ll try to answer them (:
