Happy MGM from writingamongthecoloredroses! What Disney movie is your OC(s) favorite? Is there a personal reason?
Oh boy, itâs been a hot minute since I posted something on this blog, I swear to christ Iâm going to finish the novel, things have just been...a little pandemicky out here. Anyway!
Brennethâs favorite Disney movie is Robin Hood, she likes the songs and she had Strong Gryffindor Energy even as a little kid, so the narrative appealed to her. Honorable mention to Fantasia, which she started watching after getting back from Alleirat the first time as an anxiety management technique. Sometimes she and Crispin watched it together and pretended they couldnât see each other getting weepy during the Firebird Suite, because thatâs what you do for your soulmate/mortal enemy/best friend sometimes.
Crispinâs favorite Disney movie when he was a kid was Mulan, he tried to convince his sister to help him dress up in Mulanâs matchmaker outfit for Halloween when he was six and their parents shut him down. It continues to be his favorite movie post-Alleirat (she reminds him of Brenneth) but also he canât watch it anymore because the avalanche scene makes him shaky (she reminds him of she reminds him of Brenneth). Â
Shikoâs favorite Disney movie is actually not a Disney movie at all even though she argues that it counts because Disney distributed it, itâs Princess Mononoke. Brenneth gets a real kick out of watching Shiko argue with Crispin about it. In terms of actual Disney movies, she actually didnât watch a whole ton of them growing up but she had a crush on Prince Eric when she was a kid, so, nominally the Little Mermaid.
Krei has never seen any movie, let alone Disney, but in any modern AU/if she ever had, her favorite would be Sleeping Beauty because she and Phillip are the same person.

hey star I saw the tags on that post abt brenneth's pockets and I would love a rundown of several more times brenneth was Unimpressed on earth bc that shit's hilarious
Things That Brenneth Likes On Earth:
1) Cars. She doesnât own one but she appreciates that they exist. Better than walking. Bicycles, which she does own one of, are also better than walking, so honorary mention.
2) Cell phones. Convenient.
Things That Brenneth Does Not Like On Earth, In No Particular Order:
1) Small pockets. Bad for carrying things.
2) No magic. She keeps burning herself on hot stuff. It sucks to not be fireproof.
3) Racism. Alleiratâs prejudicial problems are mostly class-based, which Brenneth finds a little easier to handle.
4) Waitstaff/customer service reps not allowed to be rude to customers. Call Her Sweetheart One More Time, She Dares You. (Ask Crispin why Brenneth has been fired from more jobs than heâs ever had, he dares you.)
5) Planes. Less nauseating than portal travel, also way more expensive and obnoxious.
6) No magic???? Brennethâs stove pilot light broke and she spent an hour wondering how people handled that before she remembered that matches and lighters existed.
7) Funerals. Absolutely stiflingly miserable, and this coming from someone who used to officiate mass pyres.
8) Lots of languages. Impractical and prone to causing problems with #3. Pretty to listen to, though.
9) Swords not acceptable to own in a dinky projects apartment, apparently.
10) Global warming. You know what would help with that? Magic.
11) No magic!!!!! Honestly how do people handle getting banged up if they have to justâŚwait for it to go away.
12) Weddings. Boring. Â
13) High school disciplinary procedures. Brenneth was Not Well Liked by teachers and administrators.
14) Uncomfortable repressed vibe about sex. Brenneth sure would have loved to be able to use that as a coping mechanism once she was of age on Earth again! Too bad she learned to flirt in a dimension where people were chill! Â

ohohohohO YOUR WISH IS MY COMMAND COOL OKAY SO WORLDWALKER HOLLYWOOD AU, ANY MIXED BAG OF 11, 14, 19, 20, 29, 33, AND/OR 40 PLEASE AND THANK YOU
Hell YES, ask meme! Â For a briefexplanation to the rest of the Internet, the Hollywood AU of Worldwalker goeslike this: in a mundane AU of this novel, Crispin Adesso is a rising starA-list actor at 24, who was just cast as the White Wolf, the villain in whatâsanticipated to be the fantasy blockbuster of the decade. Â Problem is, the woman who was cast to playthe lead opposite him just suffered a major injury, and her contract was terminated. Â While the higher-ups scramble to recast, theygrab an electrician who has sort of the right look and ask her to do her bestto read the lines, so that Crispin can at least get a sense of what heâsdoing and heâs not getting paid to do nothing.
Brenneth Ghadafi absolutely crushes the role of theFireheart, first try, and her chemistry with Crispin is electric. Â They hire her on the spot and she blundersinto stardom overnight.
11) Do they celebrate holidays? Anniversaries?
Holidays arenât a huge thing for either of them prior todoing Worldwalker, because theyâre estranged from their living families, but doingthe movie is a weirdly effective bonding experience. Â The woman who plays the Fireheartâs righthand, called only âthe Devotedâ in the credits (Worldwalker is Oscar-baitfrom moment one and absolutely sweeps the categories itâs nominated for, andeveryone waxes poetic about how beautiful the epithet-only naming scheme is asa creative choice), is immediately tight with Crispin and Brenneth. Â Her younger friend is an agent, and Toreitakes pity on Brenneth to get her hooked up with Krei so that Brenneth isnâtsolely responsible for her new situation. They even make friends with the makeup artist, who likes to wear longskirts and always has eyeshadow on her fingertips from touching people up, andget front row seats to Shiko and Kreiâs schoolgirl romance.
Itâs Krei, a big believer in family after her motherâs deathwhen she was young, who invites them all over for Thanksgiving. Â After that, Crispin and Brenneth get a littlebetter about holidays.
Crispin is an Advanced Level Anniversary Planner and itâsonly through tremendous effort that he moderates himself down to celebratingone anniversary a year. Â He knows thedate of their first meeting, their first date, their first kiss, their firstdance, the first time they said they loved each other, and the first time theygot caught by the paparazzi, in addition to their actual anniversary. Â The paparazzi incident was quite a bit beforetheir first date, which is related to the fact that thereâs a flourishingonline shipper network for over a year before they get their act together.
Brenneth is a little chiller about anniversaries. Â Crispin is used to having money, so he takesBrenneth to museums and weird niche classes and expensive dinners for theiranniversaries, and she makes jokes about being a gold-digger. Â Brenneth gives him two gifts everyanniversary: letting him buy her something expensive and frivolous, and a letter. Â The letter is always the hardest partâshedoesnât consider herself effusively affectionate and itâs hard to put herfeelings downâbut itâs always worth it to see him tear up. Â She proposes in one of them.
14) Anything they both dread?
Ironically, the things theyrespectively dread are mostly resolved by dating. Â Crispin, who shot to stardom at a very youngage, kind of dreads being alone, and having to worry about normal things he wasnever taught to deal with, and calling his parents on their birthdays. Â Brenneth, who did not plan for this, dreads being alone, and having to give interviews, and seeing her parents ather aajiâs grave (her grandmother). Brenneth knows how to fix a sink and tells Crispin to stop calling hisparents; Crispin goes with Brenneth to all her interviews to keep her confidenceup and goes with her to see her aaji; when one of them feels lonely, they grab the other oneâs hand. Â Theyhave very compatible anxieties.
19) What do they fight about? What are their argumentslike? How do they make up?
Their worst fight is the first one, when theyâre talkingabout what theyâll do after Worldwalker before theyâre even dating and Brennethsays, like itâs obvious, that sheâs going back to her real actual job. Â Crispin snorts and tells her thatâs notlikely, and suddenly all her swallowed-back nerves and all her strain and allher uncertainty is pouring out in a burst of anger, because how dare hetell her she canât live her life? Crispin lashes right back, suddenly realizing that he is desperatefor her to stay, and she was just telling him how sheâs made more money in thelast six months than her entire preceding life, and how could she just givethat up? Â There is shouting, and thenthereâs three days of treating each other with icy good manners and weirdlyon point chemistry for the scenes between the Wolf and the Fireheartâthey usealmost every bit of footage from those three days.
Then Crispin shows up at Brennethâs apartment at two in themorning with Indian takeout from the place that she says reminds her of her aajiâscooking and two bottles of wine, more expensive than sheâs comfortable drinkingon her floor even though thatâs what they do. They donât really talk about it, not explicitly, but Brenneth sayssomething oblique about not knowing how to doâŚthis, this movie star thing, andCrispin says something equally oblique about how she should do somethingwith her talent, even if itâs community theater.  Things are better after that.
Even after they learn how to have more productive arguments, thereâs usually shouting. Â They both grewup in intensely emotionally neglectful homesâthe shouting makes them feel likethe other person is invested. Â It meanstheir arguments are a little scary to see, but it works for them and theyârecareful not to argue in front of anyone who might really worry. Â They learn to talk about their shoutingmatches, after they have them, and something about the emotional catharsismakes them much more equipped to have a calm chat afterward. Â Krei and Shiko, who argue in the stiffest andmost formal way possible, find it absolutely fucking baffling.
20) What does their home look like? Their room?
They move into Crispinâs apartment, because Brenneth livesin a one-bedroom closet with a bathroom so small that someone sufficiently tall(Krei or Torei) will actually hit their knees against the sink if they sit onthe toilet. Â
Brenneth has a small anxiety attack about how big Crispinâsplace is, the first time they hook up there. Itâs kind of a hotel vibe when she first moves inâCrispin travels a lotand never really thought of it as enough of a home to decorateâbut Brennethâsfirst act of unilateral decision making as a resident is to get rid of the plainstock expensive photography and put up some actual art. Â Things progress from there. Â They still travel a lot, but thereâs colorthere, now, and signs of life, and their shared study is full of craftsâBrennethmakes jewelry and Crispin does needlepoint. He made her a sign to hang above the kitchen door that says âWeâvesurvived every bad day weâve ever had, motherfuckerâ and Brenneth never missesa chance to point it out.
Their room is heavily Brenneth-influenced as well, largelybecause she took one look at it and said, âWell, Christ, at least you have somebooks that you like.â Â Basically the onlything in it that has any trace of personality is Crispinâs closet, which isadmittedly full to bursting of brilliant colors and expensive fabrics. Â But the rest of the room is practicallyclinical. Â
She makes him get rid of most of the crisp minimalistglass-and-steel furniture that he bought when he got the place at 18 and neverreally cared about, and replaces it with wood. Not necessarily expensive wood, but something with a little color andlife in it. Â She also makes him repaintthe room from plain fucking white, what are you doing, Cris, no wonder younever spend time here. Â They settleon a nice cool blue, accented with a deep venous red that matches the comforterBrenneth spent too much money on when she first moved out on her own. Â Crispin, who has an exceptional eye fordesign and a terrible eye for incorporating his own tastes, is glad to stepback and let her do what she wants.
Heâs surprised to discover, once his apartment doesnât looklike a magazine spread anymore, that he actually likes it there. Â
29) How do they handle disasters or emergencies? Minorinjuries? Sickness?
Disasters and emergencies are usually fineâtheyâre both abit high-strung even if they wonât admit it, but itâs the kind of high-strungthat translates into getting their feet back under them real quick. Â They also have a good division of labor in caseof catastrophe, based on what kind of problem it is. Â Interpersonal disasters go directly toCrispin, because he has been professionally charming since he was fourteen. Â Logistical disasters go to Brenneth, who wasconsidered a prodigy at figuring out how to solve problems with the leastexpense when she was an electrician and who has maintained that skill setbeautifully. Â Anything that doesnât fallneatly into one of those two categories is normally handled by both of them intandem, usually with great efficiency.
Injuries and sickness tend to be more upsetting to theperson whoâs still in good health, largely because they are both horriblepatients. Â Crispin got dropped during a stuntin the filming and was mostly okay except for some bruised ribs, and Brennethsnarled at four people before Torei banished her to sit in makeup and take deepbreaths while he got looked at. Â He wentback and redid the stunt the next day, which is the take they used. Â Brenneth got appendicitis on their press tourafter the movie dropped and Crispin was useless for the time she was inthe hospital, snappish and downright nasty in a way heâs usually not, andshe almost killed him for hovering afterward, insisting she was fine to go onwith their interview schedule.
They are not beloved of the on-set medics.
33) What kind of presents do they get each other? Do theyonly do it on special occasions?
Brenneth likes to give useful gifts and almostsinglehandedly stocks their kitchen so that Crispin can play with increasinglyfancy equipment. Â She prefers to give giftson special occasions, although sometimes sheâll see something small like hisfavorite chocolates or a book she knows heâs been curious about and sheâllimpulse buy it. Â Anything more thentwenty bucks is probably a special occasion gift. Â While Crispin loves her gifts, he honestlysecretly likes her weird texts more, it always makes him grin like a dumbasswhen she texts him a picture of a dog in a hat or something with an inexplicableâsaw this, thought of youâ and no further context.
Crispin can and will give gifts at any time, and itâs commonfor him to impulse buy flowers (or one time a five hundred dollar coat), but heknows that Brenneth gets more out of things that involve some doingâeither somethinghe put work into or something they can do together. Â He buys her things like classes or museummemberships or riding lessons, or gives her ornately prepared food or handmadethings, pretty much whenever he can find a half-decent excuse. Â
He also likes to buy her nice clothing becausehe knows she wonât. Â Thus the coat. Â And like five pairs of boots. Â And some silk shirts. Â And about half her wardrobe. Â Brenneth, who was a very reluctant convert tothe idea that jeans and a sort of okay blouse werenât âtalk show attire,â ismore than glad to let him do her clothes and Shiko do her makeup and not haveto worry about anything except putting up her hair.
What gets them flustered, Ingrained habits/forces of habit, Their tickle spots for Worldwalker! (also that g.e.d dealie is some bs wooow)
YOU get first answer because my attempts to do NaNo havesuffered somewhat in the chaos but I am still TRYING to work on my novel. For this ask meme!
7) Their tickle spots
Crispin is used to a bit of static (by which I mean, anenormous amount of static), so heâs not especially ticklish unless Brennethgets the drop on him while heâs distracted. That being said, he tends to wander around barefoot when he can get awaywith it, and Brenneth likes to walk up as quietly as possible and trace hernails just so up the soles of his feet while heâs reading or doing someother kind of stationary work, because she thinks itâs funny to watch him yelland throw whatever heâs holding at her. Sheâs been doing this since they were kids and has refined her instinctsover a lifetime, so she knows exactly how quickly she needs to get out of Crispinâsline of sight before he reflexively launches something at her.
Brenneth is very ticklish along her sides, between her ribsand hips, but good luck getting close enough to manage it. Â Crispin can, but generally doesnât unlessthey have some time before their next obligation, because it usually turns intoroughhousing while Brenneth tries to get revenge.
13) What gets them flustered?
Iâm going to preface this with the fact that Brenneth is extremely oblivious and Iâm writing a whole book about it. Â That being said, she gets flustered by people doing things for her with intent. Â If you do something for her, thatâs fine. Â If you say that youâre doing it for her, personally and specifically, she tends to sort of short out.
Crispin will flat-out lock up under genuine compliments, for obvious reasons. Â
Iâm realizing that this answer is also just âBoth these people are really bad at accepting affection in their primary love languages.â Â Crispin is sort of socialized to be into Acts Of Service, but in terms of receiving love he does Words Of Affirmation more than anything else; Brenneth is too burned out to perceive giving Acts Of Service as love, but she retains a pretty bone-deep desire to have something taken off her hands as a gesture of value.
14) Ingrained habits/forces of habit
SoâŚin an effort to not make this entire answer spoilers, these habits are pretty arbitrarily chosen.
Crispin was trained as an orator and he talks like it. Â Left to his own devices, talking aboutsomething heâs passionate about, he can very easily start to sound like heswallowed the Aeneid. Â Heâs very descriptiveand poetic, and extremely persuasive, which made him the darling of hisEnglish teacher and a real pain every time someone tried to penalize him.
Brenneth used to have much bigger and sturdier pockets thanshe does on Earth, and sheâll shove any stupid shit into her pockets withoutreally realizing that womenâs jeans arenât designed for a phone, headphones, apacket of crackers, her keys, a tube of chapstick, a Swiss Army knife, severalpieces of folded paper, two pens, and the two screws and an allen wrenchthat sheâs going to need at the end of this Ikea project.  She has tornâŚmany pockets by putting sharpthings in there without thinking, and finally Crispin begged her to empty herpockets out before work to minimize the possible damage.  If she could be bothered to give a shit, she wouldbuy jeans in the menâs section, but she doesnât and refusing to let Crispindrag her to Old Navy has become something of a point of honor.
