A friend lent me this book after a particularly devastating breakup many years ago. I was initially put off by the cover, thinking it was geared toward teenagers (which I was not), but she assured me that it had really helped her after her last breakup, so I gave it a shot.Â
I'm sure there are lots of great breakup books out there. This is the only one I've ever read. And I've read it over and over again, after every breakup, because it really helped me feel better. I carried it everywhere I went and I slept with it under my pillow. Every other page is doggy-eared because it struck a cord with me.
Through personal and second-hand anecdotes of heartache and triumph, with no-bullshit advice, and with light-heartedness and uplifting humour, the authors became my best friends who always tell me the truth, no matter how hard that is to swallow. Because they want the best for me. And I ended up loving them for it, and feeling better after having read this book. Â Â
