Some time ago, an elderly couple came to see me. The lady, in her late sixties, seemed perfectly normal until she tried to speak. She started on a subject but quickly began to ramble. Her husband then explained that before her retirement she had been a physics researcher. She dreamed of a beautiful garden, but as it came to life, her mental capacity for women deteriorated. She had simply stopped using her "little gray cells" as Poirot would have said. Creating a narrative around the idea that every new generation can access 10% more brain power than we now have. there is no way we know how to prepare ourselves for this incredible jump... scientists have been working tirelessly to try map out the possible issues- they are concerned that our emotional intelligence will hold us back from their wellbeing. They will experience all emotions in much higher definintion - how can we design a school that takes this into account? what will we have to rethink? we will quickly have to adapt the school so that it is as emotionally nurturing as possible so that we can support these highly acute brains. how do we do this?
