Iโm not seeing enough about this on tumblr, so I thought Iโd make a post about the cultural genocide, unjust imprisenment, forced labor and torture being committed by the Chinese government against the Uyghur people and other Muslim ethnic groups in the Xinjiang province of china.
-Who are the Uyghurs? They are a Turkic Muslim ethnic group native to Xinjiang. They practice a tolerant, traditional form of Islam influenced by Sufism.
What is happening to the Uyghurs and other Muslims of Xinjiang ?
- Roughly 3 million are currently being detained without arrest in camps in which they are subject to forced labor, indoctrination (political, cultural, and anti-religious), crowded, unsanitary conditions, and torture. More and more people are being sent to these camps, and it is possible that China is planning to imprison the entire population of Xinjiang muslims.
-Virtually any Muslim religious practice, and many Uyghur cultural practices, are considered sufficient reason to be sent to the camps. Reasons for being sent to the camps include: praying, owning religious texts, owning uyghur-language texts(regardless of their content), having a long beard, fasting, giving children religious names, using religious phrases, and refusing to drink alchohol, eat pork, or smoke.
-Outside of the camps, the Uyghur people are under constant surveillance, subject to forced home visits by Chinese authorities, forbidden to travel, and forbidden to practice religion, and forbidden to contact relatives outside of China. In addition, the Chinese government is demolishing and defacing mosques in the province, including mosques of great historical value dating back as far as the 12th century.
What can you do to help?
-boycott Chinese goods, or try to purchase as few as possible.
-check to see whether your senators are sponsors of the Uyghur Human rights Policy Act. (You can check here: https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/649/text). If not, contact your senator or representatives and ask them to support this bill.

Right now tens of thousands of digs are being tortured to death in China in the Yulin Dog Meat festivals. Defenseless, terrified dogs are bludgeoned, boiled alive, butchered because Chinese believe the more pain animal endures, they will become more virile when they eat them.
I beg anyone who reads this post to condemn this unconscionable festival and sign petition on line, call your Congressman, even the White House to demand China stop this barbaric practice if they wAnt us to keep buying their products.
