Sandal should have been working with Dagna at Skyhold. They would have been quite the pair! And Bodahn selling wares in the courtyard!

This scene is really heartbreaking if you wonder what Hawke must be feeling in this scene.
Her gazing into the fire pretty much sums it up.
At this point, Hawke no longer has a father or a mother. One of her siblings was brutally killed, her other sibling is either also dead or they are just not present in Hawke’s life anymore.
Hawke is either the last Hawke; or she’s completely alone.
Now, these two dwarves who have been with her since she acquired the mansion; are also deciding to leave Hawke for good.
Bodahn and Sandal have been with Hawke for years at this point. They’ve been living with Hawke and they were there when Leandra died; their presence must have been a comfort. Because she wasn’t alone in this huge mansion, this home she’s fought hard for but with no one left to share it with.
Her loneliness is beautifully captured as she stares into the fire with a low-hanging head as Bodahn is being sweet and polite about his departure. She understands, perhaps she’s not even surprised. But it’s still incredibly sad, because while they’re not family they are friends of Hawke. Bodahn is clearly loyal to Hawke and to the family and he has a lot of admiration for her. And him wanting to leave is perfectly understandable and perhaps that’s what makes it more tragic for Hawke.
Poor Bodahn. His inventory always get crammed up with rubbish. (But nowadays the worst loot goes to the worst merchants that I never visit anyways. Good for my eyes. Probably good for Bodahn’s career.) Happy D4day I guess!? So many important days this time of year! HoF Surana, Bodahn Feddic, Alistair, Leliana, Sten / Dragon Age Origins (c) Bioware
