Spring

We met

First days of school

Behind a curtain of rain

Not really seeing

Each other

Classmates, strangers

Until your warm sun peeked through

As we faced off

Eye to eye 

The gusts of life in your punch

Revived parts of me

Left dormant since forever

And I allowed myself

To grow

On you

Summer

A thrilling camp turned disaster

You stepped up

Continued to launch into action

A beacon of 

Unrelenting light

When all seemed lost

Just out of reach

To save the ones left behind

You showed me

That it was okay

Not to be strong

To fight

All the time

That it was worth it 

To try

Another way

Autumn

We fell apart

(Well, not really)

As you went 

Into the world

License ready

Taking on missions and

Saving people

While I had to relearn

How to be a 

Real hero

Winter

I invited you to join

Part of my family

So we can glimpse

As partners

Always so warm

Wide open

To change

Stone island by deep ocean

Capturing reflections

The waves of the water never waver

Always so strong

Having fought for so long

To protect and to learn

He kept looking

And he kept looking

All it took

To be entranced

To understand
