Parrotfish are hermaphrodites and live in harems with a dominant male. They are not territorial and live in harmony with other species, often found feeding together. Their teeth are fused into powerful beaks which are used for grabbing filamentous algae from dead coral, often found feeding in a cloud of sediment.

#marchmeetthemaker Day 24 Achievements I’ve won a few awards, namely the Embroidery category in the British Bridal Awards, coming 2nd twice in the international Hand and Lock Prize for Embroidery and winning the Swarovski Prize and proud of them all but I think these days it’s also an achievement to have survived in any creative industry and to be able to spend every day doing what you love. #marchmeetthemaker Day 22 Sketchbooks and Lists I must admit I’m a bit lazy about keeping sketchbooks unless I’m working on a specific project or entering a competition like the Hand and Lock Prize for Embroidery (where I came 2nd twice and won the Swarovski Prize). I do however have to do a design for every new bride to give them an idea of what their dress will look like. #marchmeetthemaker Day 13 Workclothes As embroidery isn’t a messy art form I don’t need to wear special clothes but as my studio is also my showroom which is open if I’m here working, I have to look decent in case anyone calls in! The shop is quite a difficult space to keep warm in Winter so it’s a case of wearing lots of layers and woollies but dressing them up with some nice jewellery (either my own or vintage).
