I’ve got a million in progress- so I’m going to talk about the two that are closest to being done (in theory).
“If I woke up next to you” is my sequel to Last Years Wishes where I take some elements of season 2 to work them into the canon-departure I made with 1x13. I’m introducing Nora’s name to the story, some of the story about Tripp & Caulfield, the connection of Louise and the Delucas, the reveal of Walt, and of course Jesse’s death- though who kills him and why I changed. The main part of the story is how Alex deals with his unresolved feelings about his dad and the abuse he was raised with, as he gets ready to marry Michael. Alex said in 2x08 that his triggers were more subtle than warfare and guns, meaning it’s the every activities of a household and the normal stressors of that which bother him. The closer he gets to happiness the more he seems to unravel under it, which is sometimes how mental illness works (at least it did for me).Alex and Michael have been working hard on good communication, but nothing is perfect. It’s currently 22,000 words long, and I probably have another 10k to write on it.
my other story that is now 8,500 words called “stuck in gravity, clawing for some bravery” - it revolves around a soulmate trope. What if the alien half of a cosmically bonded pair - always gets alerted psychically when they are the subject of a sexual fantasy? Then gets to ...experience what the other is doing. So take that idea, and add in where we are in 3x01, a year after the crashcon and Alex and Forrest have been dating the whole time.... so how’s Michael handling that? Spoiler alert- not great.

It takes three seconds for Riku to say anything.
Three long blinks to work out the soft press of wind-chapped lips against his, swift and sudden, Sora’s fists wrapped around the lapels of Riku’s jacket. Three ragged breaths to understand that Sora has just kissed him.
“What?” Riku says, when he finds his voice at last, if not his sense because Sora--
Sora shrinks back. Unfolds his hands from Riku’s jacket. His lips (slightly rough, clumsy and a bit wet Riku now knows intimately) turn down in a pout. He’s hurt.
“I thought you’d be happy,” Sora says, suddenly uncertain and fidgeting. “I thought you-- liked me, don’t you?”
Riku almost laughs. Happy. Happy, to explain this turned-upside-down feeling, this heart pounding so loud in his ears it drowns out everything else feeling, this sense of total unreality. He’s not happy he is--
Euphoric.
Incandescent.
Terrified.
“Sora,” Riku says, this time trying to make the words right. “I do but-- are you sure? Just because I l-- like you--” The word is insufficient, but he is not ready for its counterpart, not yet. “Doesn’t mean that you have to--”
And it’s Sora’s turn to laugh, and shake his head. “Don’t be dumb, Riku,” he says. “I like you too.”
It can’t be that simple. It can’t be, but it is, especially when Sora grabs Riku by the front of the jacket once more and pulls him into another kiss.
