made a mario oc. its one of those block snake guys who only appeared in 3d land
Made a Super Paper Mario-style version of Blokkablok from Super Mario 3D Land (with some changes, namely spreading the segments apart and adding billboarded "spheres" between each). I learned a lot of neat techniques while making this, and I might do some more things like this if I can think of anything. Also I know how to do billboarding now I guess.
Model made in Blender; textures created in Xara Designer Pro X9, with additional compressed versions made in Paint.NET; turnaround video edited in Davinci Resolve.

Blokkabloks can make platforms teammates can walk on - this can help players with poor spiking stats, or make players with amazing spiking stats even more dangerous! Their speed is high, but their power is low and their blocks are fragile, so they're not suited for combat.

Last time(?) on weirdmarioenemies, Mod Chikako tried to one-up me by writing a post about Fake Block after my Blockhopper post! Well, three months later, I strike back! We’re not done with the category of “block enemies” just yet!
That’s right! 3D Land introduced not just one, but two block baddies! That’s more block baddies than any other game! If you ask me, that should’ve been a selling point on the back of the box. All things considered, that’s probably an effective camouflage in the Mario universe, but Blokkablok takes it one step further by imitating a whole row of blocks!
Not just that, but Blokkablok’s blocks are completely functional! You can break ‘em, and whenever you see blocks in a Mario game, it’s your animal instinct to break ‘em! Sometimes they have coins and power-ups, too! (Where does he get them?) But since Blokkablok moves around, you gotta watch out for the spikes on his head and tail... miscalculate, and Mario will get a fistful of pain! Crush all their blocks, and he’ll just fall apart... you wouldn’t want to do that, would you? Would you?
