2017 PT II 🌙 I started my site ‘my rabid wonderland’ in April 2017, and from there I gained strength, which grew into courage, which bloomed into a confidence I had forgotten I had. Something inside since highschool that made me feel like I was special, like I was worthy of being heard. The same confidence I once had in writing for a local newspaper for school work experience, a quiet asssurance that my writing deserves to be read and my name deserves to be known by those kind enough to take notice. My life has changed in 2017 and so has my flame. It’s not dying anymore. In fact, its stronger than ever. I want to personally thank every single person that took the time to read my blog, my poetry, songs, mental health updates, stories and film talk. You have given me a confidence I forgot how to use, and made me feel like a person worth being heard. I have many plans for the year ahead, I can’t wait to share it with you. I wish us all a happy and healthy 2018, a more compassionate goverment, justice for victims of sexual abuse, legalised marijuana, the 8th repealed, and an impeachment in a pear tree. 2017 PT I 🌙 We are quickly coming up on the end of 2017. For better or worse, it happened and there’s no take backs. On a political front, the year has been a garbage fire. All our favs are problematic and rapey, and now no one can watch house of cards. Though it has been a turbulent year for many, one of war against toxic misogyny and the many blunders of trump, it has been a year of growth for me. I’d like to talk to you about it if I may. At the start of this year, I wasn’t rightly sure I was going to make it out alive. I was still depressed, broke, and self harming on impulse. My Achille’s heel, my mother, was causing yet more problems and I remember vividly crying in my bed, sobbing aloud “why can’t I save her?” I felt like my heart had died in my chest. I felt like I was grieving again. I felt like no amount of progress or meds or positivity would ever lift me high enough to not be drowned in the failures of my parent. And it had broken me yet again. I can’t really remember much from the depression at the start of this year beyond that. Everything kind of blurred into a miserable void of going to work, eating, washing, and sleeping. This would go on until April, when suddenly what felt like a flicker in a dying flame would spark inside me, making me crave the voice I had lost. A voice I let die because of the actions of others, because of the weakness in me that allowed the voices of others to silence my own.
