Gus is in the middle of reading a new book he picked up recently when the familiar flash of light engulfs his sight. The sight he sees is, unfortunately, not one of his parents. It’s been a while since he’s seen them, and if he were to admit it out loud, he’d admit that he’s concerned.
No. What he sees this time is a slender man with shaggy hair walking down a street. The street is familiar, but the man isn’t -- though they usually aren’t. Nothing out of the ordinary seems to be happening though, and Gus wonders why he’s being shown this man. Then the man turns and looks directly in the direction Gus sees, overlooking him. Those red eyes cause Gus to feel something he isn’t sure of, and then he’s being tossed out of the vision.
“What the hell,” Gus says to nobody in particular, though Vinny meows in response. Gus reaches out to scratch the cat’s ear before getting up to take some aspirin. His head is pounding, which isn’t something that usually happens after getting a vision. Then again, the people he sees don’t usually look at him either. After taking the medication, he grabs the journal he keeps for his visions and writes down as many details as he can. From the looks of things, Gus is going to have to basically camp out at a coffee shop that he frequents. There are worse places to wait for someone.
---
A few days later, Gus is sitting in the outside seating area of the coffee shop. He’s been here multiple times in the past few days during the evening -- the time he saw the mysterious man from his vision. So far, there’s been nothing and he’s starting to think this was one of those rarer visions from the past. That’s unlikely though.
Gus is in the middle of texting Madison to see if she wants him to pick anything up before heading home when that indescribable feeling washes over him again. He looks up from his phone slowly, and looks down the street. That’s where he sees the familiar figure walking.
Gus is up from his seat before he even knows it. He tucks his phone back into his pocket, grabs his bag and coffee, and starts walking down the sidewalk in the direction the man is coming from.
“Excuse me,” He says to the stranger, “Would you mind if I asked you a few questions?”
