Ingredients: 5 lbs apples, peeled, cored, and sliced. 2 cups granulated sugar. 1 cup brown sugar. 1 tbsp ground cinnamon. 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg. 1/4 tsp ground cloves. 1/4 tsp salt.
Instructions: Place sliced apples in a slow cooker. In a separate bowl, mix together granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Pour the sugar mixture over the apples and stir to combine. Cover and cook on low for 10 hours, stirring occasionally. After 10 hours, use an immersion blender to blend the mixture until smooth. Continue cooking uncovered on low for an additional 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until thickened. Transfer the apple butter to sterilized jars and let cool before sealing. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for longer storage.
