TAKEN.
and, as sloane peterson once said:
âHe's gonna marry me.â
Suede Dunn had found herself in Rosewood, Illinois due a series of unfortunate events. But before we get to why sheâd found herself in Rosewood, we need to understand who Suede Dunn once was.Â
Suede was everything you wanted in a daughter, especially when youâre a member of the Dunn family. You see, the Dunns were quite the name in the political field and when you are a name in such a field, certain things are required of you. Youâre to be excellent at all things you do, while being nothing but respectful... add onto that the fact that you have to appear to be perfect at all times, itâs a lot for one person to take on.Â
But she had taken the task on. How could she not? She refused to make any marks on her motherâs pristine name. You see, her mother was the definition of a modern day woman. Someone whoâd risen from less than amazing roots to graduate summa cum laude at a prestigious ivy league school and then marry into a political dynasty where sheâd become a political tour de force herself. She was a hero to manyâ women and men alike, Suede included.
So much so that Suede found herself wanting to be like her mother, because how could anyone accept anything less than perfection from the child of this important woman. And it was those insanely high standards that sheâd put on herself thatâd eventually lead to her inevitable demise.Â
In the pursuit towards academic greatness, Suede had found herself throwing on more classes, extracurriculars, community service than one probably shouldâve. And the burnout was certainly setting in faster than she cared to admit. How her mother had made this seem so effortless, sheâd never understand. But she refused to come off as anything less than amazing and soon, sheâd discovered something thatâd push her over the edge.
Speed. Everyone in her study groups was doing it. Literally everyone. You see, she wasnât the only young adult dealing with the pressures of living up to standards. Now, time after time sheâd politely denied offers. But even the most level headed people can be pushed and her moment eventually came for Ms. Dunn.Â
Herâs came during a low. A moment where her life felt as if it were crashing all around her. No matter how much effort she put into what she was doing, she was failing. And failing hard, so she accepted what she knew would be a much needed boost. For a moment there, everything began to click once more but sheâd find that her life would soon come crashing down once more.Â
You see, while Suede was an intellectual... she wasnât your average bookworm. No, she actually enjoyed having fun, much to the chagrin of her contemporaries. Because not only was she beautiful, intelligent, but she was also essentially sunshine barbie. That need for fun had led her to him. He was a member of Ravenwoodâs academic decathlon team, her teams rival at the finales. Stunning, but he didnât actually seem to realize that. Adorable, in the dorkiest way possible. And she couldnât keep her hands off of him, despite the fact that her roommate had also had her eyes on him.Â
So after a night with said guy, a guy whoâs name she didnât even take down just because the moment had been so special... why ruin it? Because thatâs what came later. Theyâd follow one another on instagram and just become another number on their follower count. No, she preferred to commit their night together to memory. But that amazing night would be followed by her being greeted to her schoolâs faculty members in her hotel room. A bottle of speed having been found in her belongings.Â
One that... had indeed belonged to her.Â
And with that discovery, sheâd soon found herself expelled from her university. So rather than facing her mother and the disappointment thatâd surely follow, Suede decided that Rosewood would be it for her. Her family was established there, surely theyâd be able to get her in Ravenwood and... he happened to be there too.
This would be her new start. A chance to do things better.Â
Suede found herself at the party, from word of mouth. One thing sheâd come to find out about Rosewood was that everyone knew about everyoneâs business. Luckily, that rule hadnât applied to her as of yet, given sheâd been pretty much locked away at her aunt and uncleâs place.Â
And sheâd been expected to stay locked away in her aunt and uncles, but how was she not suppose to overhear Kirby speaking of this massive party that everyone was going to be at? Come on. So while her cousin couldnât be in attendance, given he was going to be off being a great human being... that meant sheâd have to show up and show out for the Dunnâs.
So Suede threw on one of the nicer dresses sheâd hastily packed into her luggage, fixed up her hair and tip toeâd right out of the front door with her designer heels in hand. But as she started up her car to go... she came to realize one thing.Â
She had no fucking clue where this party even was!Â
But the answer to that came courtesy of her cousinâs friend, Brodie Balcoin. Whoâd just posted his location to his story, despite it being a known fact that was never a great thing to do. But god bless that idiot because of him, she had somewhere to go and have fun for a night. Â
She eventually arrived to the party, taking a moment to herself before she stepped out.Â
Suede sat in her car and told herself that this was going to be a fun night for her. One, she most definitely deserved because who knew how much longer sheâd be in Rosewood. For all she knew, her parents would be showing up and send her right back to her former school. Ugh. But tonight, thatâd be the last thing on her mind.Â
So she stepped out, closing her eyes to take a deep breath and just as she stepped forward, someone had crashed into her. Just as she was prepared to say something to said person, her eyes met theirs....Â
It was him. Her one night stand.Â
