I now have two races under my belt - the Big25 (10k) and Berlin Half Marathon. Ok, I guess not races since I really wasn't competing against others. I was just running with a crowd of people in order to receive a shiny medal at the end (the Big25 medal looks much much much better than the Berlin Half Marathon one). I've managed to run around 5m30s per km and had a total time of 56m42s for the 10k, which I am quite happy about. The best thing about the Big 25 race was the ending - one lap in the Olympiastadion itself. So after you approach the stadium, you go under this tunnel with this good drum band playing and flickering lights, which makes it feel like you're about to be launched into Space Mountain or something. Then there's some light and you are in the stadium! and the finish line is just a mere 3/4 of the track away. You might see yourself on the jumbotron (I didn't) and you can basically taste the finish line. It's a wonderful wonderful feeling :) Then after the race, went to have Korean food with the Valkeapää clan, followed by a steak, cheese and wine dinner. Oh god was it good to have that steak and red wine combo. And man did I gorge myself on the cheese. Now it's back to cleaner eating. So far, with my running, I've managed to slim down a bit, but not lose any weight. Blah. I guess bodies really are made in the kitchen eh? So that was that, now I need to focus on training for the full marathon. Hoping that by the end of this month, I'll be able to run 25km in one go. Yes, I was supposed to run 25km yesterday, but I wanted to make sure that my foot was alright. And then, end of next month, hopefully 30km. Then 35km and then another 35 km and then finally the full marathon at the end of September.
