purple is the gayest colour and no one can convince me otherwise
The biangles(1985)
Goodnight
The creator of the bi flag says the colours for the bi flag are blue for OSA, pink for SSA, and purple for the mix of both. But some think that's a lie and that it's actually blue for men and pink for women. Do you think that's true? On the one hand, it's coincidental. On the other, pink as a "gay" colour has been around for quite some time. And some people just seem to want to call bullshit on anything bi anyway lol
The creator of the bi flag was a man called Michael Page, who was influenced by Liz Nania's 1985 work "Biangles":
Her website states:
"The Biangles were possibly the first symbol for bisexual visibility. Within a couple years of its creation by Liz Nania, originally on pins, buttons, and t-shirts, it began to be adopted worldwide. Soon after the creation of the rainbow flag, the three colors of the Biangles became the basis in for the bisexual flag. The colors of the overlapping triangles represent attraction to both, or all, sexes, symbolized by pink and blue, traditionally associated with girls and boys in the US; and lavender represents the queerness of bisexuality, referencing the Lavender Menace in the 1970s and other cultural associations with lavender and queerness in the 1980s and 1990s. The triangle references the pink triangle adopted by LGBTQ+ communities in the 1980s in the US as a form of queer resistance, as it was originally used in Nazi Germany Germany in the 1930s and 40s to identify gay men."
Michael Page was inspired by the above and said of the bi flag:
“The pink colour represents sexual attraction to the same sex only (gay and lesbian), the blue represents sexual attraction to the opposite sex only (straight) and the resultant overlap colour purple represents sexual attraction to both sexes (bi). [...] The key to understanding the symbolism of the Bisexual pride flag is to know that the purple pixels of colour blend unnoticeably into both the pink and blue, just as in the ‘real world,’ where bi people blend unnoticeably into both the gay/lesbian and straight communities.”
Liz Nania is a supportive lesbian who cares about the bisexual community and is the origin of our bisexual pride flag. She created the "Biangles," they became a popular symbol that were repeated so much that most have forgotten where they came from, and Page was inspired by the imagery that came from Nania.
Lesbian and bisexual solidarity goes way back, and anybody criticising the bisexual flag or bisexual colours genuinely needs to go outside.

Biangles
The origin of the bisexual flag, this symbol was initially created for the Boston Bi Woman's Community around the late 1980s.
The pink triangle was a symbol used in the 70s through the 90s to represent the gay movement, such as in the logo of the Lesbian/Gay March on Washington (1987), the Pink Panthers Movement, and AIDS activism.
The pink gay/lesbian and blue straight triangles overlap seamlessly to create a purple triangle, representing how bisexuality can blend seamlessly between the two identities and create its own.
In this design, I flipped the triangles to point upward, using the reclaimed version of the pink triangle used by organizations such as ACT UP, reversing its dark origins.
These were drawn by my friend and they are free to use anywhere and everywhere!
This post is for bi people but anyone may interact. If you derail it, I'll hit you with a stick.

I was looked up the bi flag one time (I forgot the order of the colours) and I discovered that biangles exist. As a lover of both bisexuality and puns, the biangle flag is my new favourite thing.
